MandyB Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Hi All We recently had a new windscreen fitted due to the old one not being fitted correctly and water leaking in. I have just realised that the water jets for the back window are no longer working? Could it be that something has come loose?? Any ideas on where to look would be appreciated Thanks Quote

Any ideas on where to look would be appreciated ThanksHi Mandyb and welcome to the forum. Oh dear something tells me you have a wet passenger footwell? Remove the trim along edge of passenger door opening (2 or 3 screws iirc) lift sodden wet carpet and sound deadening material look at the bunch of wires running along the edge, you should see a black plastic tube that has a joint this can become separated in cold weather due to water freezing, windscreen washer water bottle emptied itself in the car. Push the joint back together you should hear it click then place a small cable tie around it tight that will stop it coming off again Quote
edatelder Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 There is a pipe joint near the back too and, it can leak into the rear door and you get a [blue] puddle in the depression around the rear door lock. Quote
MandyB Posted January 29, 2011 Author Report Posted January 29, 2011 Hi Both Thanks for your replies - I'm not getting any water into the car?? The reason we had to have the screen replaced was because we had water coming in above the windscreen. No water coming in now but just no water coming out of the jets??? I will check both these places aswell just in case - it has been very cold here -9 in the mornings and the front jets don't work until the car has been running a while but the back jets don't work at all so maybe the pipe is just frozen???? You are right, front jet can defrost because of the engine but rear may take a bit longer. Quote

edatelder Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Add plenty of screenwash/antifreeze. When the weather is mild or water melted, listen to see if you can here the motor for the rear washer buzzing when you push the wiper control. Maybe the motor's bust. Quote
zorgman Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 mk1's have heated front jets too Quote
