hi all, as a few of you know i have recently fitted a new run on pump on my 05 tdi & whilst i was doing this i removed the pipe off the egr to gain better access, as i removed i noticed oil so gave it a wipe & checked it again 2 days later & it was covered in oil again... is this early signs of turbo on its way? the car suffers limp mode somtimes on high revs but if you flick the key its fine again...

i have been looking at other posts regarding the egr but they all mention sutt not wet oil.

the pipe that i removed i think runs down to intercooler but not sure , i removed it from the top in front of the run on pump.

what do you think guy's?

the millage is 160,000 but serviced regardless of cost, in the last month i have fitted water pump , run on pump , thermostat , clutch & flywheel with loads of other little bits/bushes & now this...

Hi again

There will always be evidence of oil in the air charge piping, it,s deciding whether it may be excessive or not, leakage can be from the turbo seals but may also be from crankcase pressure in the form of oil mist.

The big question would be does the engine need topping up with oil regularly? or does it not use oil? if its the latter then you got nothing to worry about.

Take that large pipe off the egr valve then get a small mirror to look into egr to see how restricted with soot it is, you will need to remove it to clean it if it is.

blank egr off your car will thank you for it, doesnt affect emission or owt detrimental to engine but car can breath proper, easy way is a m6 bolt (10mm) in vac pipe and thats it but mines fully gone with blank plates
