Hi there everyone....

We have been having significant starting probs with our Gal, and have noticed on eBay that you can buy fault code readers.... However, there appears to be quite a variety in whats available and price !!

Can anyone please advise if they have any recommendations ..... experiences.... etc etc... as they seem that they would be a handy tool to have.... but only if thay work properly.... !

Many Thanks

Paul

As it's a MK1 then it should be either AHU, AFN, ANU

right then, on your car theres 2 ways to go buy a simple vagcom lead called a kkl and use with a laptop this also gives you the ease of modifying items ie: tickover speed. door locking and best of all check that the pump timing is spot on loads of info on net. you could go the way of a simple handheld reader that shows you the codes if any and read what the fault is inc abs, airbags but thats it you cant do nowt else with it at all.

myself ive got vagco and a autel eu703 but the autel does nearly every car on market cost me

Hi there,

I have a mk 2 2001 y galaxy tdi, are both these fault readers compatible with my car or just the mk 1

Many thanks

James

Both are compatible with either personally I use Vag-Com or as it's now called VCDS lite.

Lots of interface cables available on Ebay like the one Zorgman has indicated some come with a software disc some don't but software is available free from the ross-tech website.
