Aux Heater Problem

Sorry to start a new thread on this, but wanted to give an update to my Aux Heater Problem

 

After running Vag Com and getting the error code 65535 Int Control Module memory error, i thought i would take it into the local Fraud dealers, for them to do a check

 

Got a phone call saying that they had tested it through the Ford Comms software (whatever that is) and that it had come back with an error code of U2B51 that they didn't recognise??

 

They suggested a full Aux Heater replacement at

The problem is that the Mk2 Galaxy isn't a Ford, its a VW. The eberspacher heater speaks pure VW, not Ford so communications isn't great. The dealers also don't have the full range of parts available to them like VW - if you look up the heater on Ford's part system its a complete assembly, not seperate components.

 

U2B51 is the Ford Code for "PCM Controller Failure", which is basically the same as what VAG-Com told you.

The price for the unit itself isn't too bad - I expected worse from a dealer, but the labour is a rip off, not exactly a long or difficult task

i was told yonks back by the ford dealer that certain parts on the heaters are not available sepratly,so in other words when it breaks it requires a complete new unit.

as mirez has said our cars are about 95% vw,perhaps go and pay a visit to your vw dealers and have a sly word with 1 of the technicians there to see if they can offer some advice on the coding.

dont even bother with dealers find a local erbaspacher dealer as they know what there talking about plus they sell/keep the parts in stock. the galaxy is a derivitive from the sharan so you need 2 types of reader vw for airbags, heater and abs, ford for the 2L and 2.3L engine otherwise use vw for other cars inc the alhambra. had a talk to vw dealer and all they do is swop whole unit over even tho they can get the parts. At moim talking to them to try to buy the pile of heaters they've got so i can refurb them and sell them on make a few bob for crimble
