Hi i'm in need of a new aux heater for my mk2 tdi galaxy and just wondered if anyone knows if a mk1 heater will fit, as i've been offered a brand new one for half the price of a mk2 heater. thanks. Edited by jambo

do a search on here,there is a lot of info,iirc they are different,think its to do with the actual heater itself having a different setup ???.

I have not been on the forum for a while.. yeah, the exhaust has broken off ,right on the unit. I asked a mechanic if it could be welded back on and he didnt think it could and said ,best get a new one ... yeah right , too much for me to afford.

Don't know where yours has broken off but you can buy some flexy exhaust pipe to repair or just throw the old box and run a straight pipe out of the flexy

On the bottom of the heater there is a small pipe about an inch long and the exhaust pipe slips over the small one and is clamped there. well my problem is the small pipe has broken off flush with the bottom of the heater, so I dont have anything to work with . :)

The exhaust outlet forms part of the fan housing which can be separated from the rest of the heater once stripped down there are a few suppliers that may help.
