Anyone Used Vegatable Oil In There Tdi?

hi i used to run my pajero on half and half mix of veggie oil and derv , is anyone using it in there gals alhams or shazzez , as it would be lot cheaper for me to buy than gordon browns rip of pocket linning diesel :)

Not straight veg oil, no. There is a guy that I know of who uses proper bio-diesel though and has done for some time.

I had a pal use it on his shogun, he had to mix oil with ethanol, he stopped using it because of the smell. Don't know of any gals atm running on it. Just check your engine can run on bio/veg cause i believe they can gum up filters, pumps and injectors.

Funnily enough I have a Pajero which I am just about to get rid of and have been running it on chip fat for four years with no problems. I am just about to get my 03 plate Gal when my money clears in their bank, probably Wed, and have been reading up on this. The consensus is that it is a different type of engine and it is not advisible to do it. Hopefully someone will come on here and prove me wrong because I am fed up contributing to Shells obscene record breaking

trouble is,and i think its been mentioned on here before,the fuel company's dont actually make that much of a profit on fuel,ITS THE FU@@ING GOVEMENT whos making the obscene profit from us motorists.the govement know that no matter how much they increase the cost of fuel there is no way us motorists will ever give the car up.

Its the garages (especially the independants) that don't make much money and have to become mini supermarkets to make a profit. The oil companies are making making record :o profits (as well as Gordon Brown :o )

After following the links it is selling an SVO conversion so maybe it is possible to safely run on straight veggie oil on the newer engines.

Hi yep guy at my works runs his shazza on 20% in winter then 50% in summer ...BUT its in the garage having the head gasket done i will speak to him tomorrow to see how he knew it was ok to run or if he just tried it.

The Gal tdi will run on veggie oil!

But for how long before the pump and bits pack up?

 

Think you might find it cheaper in the long run to use diesel.

I don't know about veggieoil but the VW Audigroup were the first to allow bio-diesel to be used in there pd engines made between 1990 and 2004 without affecting the warranty. you can read the article here http://www.biodieselfillingstations.co.uk/approvals.htm
