koro Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Hi, As the title says, have given up looking for the source of problem. Intend to run a new wire back to near side rear light on my VW Sharan. The 5 amp fuse (No 51) blows every now and then...How do you get in behind the fuse box holder, hoped to crimp onto the correct wire coming out of fuse holder and run it back to within a few inches of bulb holder. Seems like a simple solution to me, though it will probably not... Anyone know or have done this, appreciate any ideas.. Koro Quote
zorgman Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 hidont bother with wire to rear, simply cut wire feeding the bulb then take wire from otherside light and connect to where u cut it to bulb. job done should take 20 mins tops, the placcy floor plate lifts up when u take screws out Quote
MadBaz Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 DON'T cross the feeds, you'll end up with more problems than cures. Quote
koro Posted January 28, 2008 Author Report Posted January 28, 2008 Hi, I thought about taking a feed from across the otherside light. Though like the post MadBaz wrote have heard about not cross feeding. Although I cant see the problem of removing the non-working fuse and splicing off the working feed of the rear light. It would in my mind, be like having both rear lights working off one fuse, I realise that if the fuse blows then I would have no rear lights, could live with that....Am I totally wrong.... ;) Quote
zorgman Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 nowt wrong with crossing wire over as long as you do the cut wire trick, done it loadsa times and it works. the problem comes up if you have the bulb out warning lamps on dash that will cause it to show a bulb out Quote
koro Posted January 29, 2008 Author Report Posted January 29, 2008 Hi, Thats what I thought, as there is no warning light coming on with the blown fuse, I reckon it should be ok....will give it a go thanks everyone for the replies  Quote
