Loud Tapping Noise

hi i have a loud tapping sound. i have just replaced the tappets as it was making a lower tapping noise before. but as the new ones are in its making a louder tapping noise. 6 of the tappets were not moving before only two were. just wondering if anyone would tell me what it could be cheers dewsy.

Could be low oil pressure , which could be due to one of several reasons. If possible get the oil pressure checked.

 

I expect you've changed the oil and filter?

 

Otherwise....

 

1. Oil sump pickup could be blocked. - this has been reported several times - remove sump and clean oil pump pickup.

 

2. Try flushing oil to clean the oilways.

How many miles has the engine done, it could be the camshaft that is out of spec.

wat do u mean camshaft out of spec its done 129 thousand miles n reg 2.0l glx

been told it might be bent valves?

i had same proplem and done the same as you, it turned out to be low oil pressure. does it go away at 2000rpm if so u need to change the oil pressure relief valve spring or in my case i stuck a washer behind it

Hi, I was just reading this and wanted to say i had this problem once but it wasn't a galaxy. I found out that it was low oil pressure. I hope i have helped.

no it is constantly tapping loud when i am driving
