NikpV Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 i thought the left ws a mk3 galaxy or is it a smax?? Quote
Davetheref Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 Definately a Mark 3 Gal. The S-Max has a more rounded rear end. The Gals and the S-max look very similar as the front is the same. Quote
mumof4 Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 No no no!!!!..my little beaut is the best!!..well...was my little beaut! Yes, the left is a MKIII, its larrys MKIII.Mine is the MKII.Bugger..mine was the MKII rather.lol Quote
big wheel Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 The only good thing about the MK111 is the massive front 1/4 lights, you can turn around corners without running some poor bugger over.Mine you it doesn't make up for the cheap looking rear seats and a garden spade for a handbrake. Quote
mumof4 Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 If you had a black MKIII......was a florist...drove very slowly....don't be surprised if peeps think that your at the head of a funeral procession.. Quote
big wheel Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Go on Maz,put this one up against the MK111. Now which one would you have????? Quote
tiny Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Just to add my opinion to the debate, The Mk III is a far better looking car than previous Gal or variants  Quote
mumof4 Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Id still have the MKII Galaxy anyday over the MKIII Frank. :P Tiny....I am gonna assume that you are called Tiny as you are a tall bloke....so i aint gonna argue with you :D..BUT!!..the MKIII is no where near as good looking as the other Galaxys!! Its an oblong box on wheels!! Quote
longdon12 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 He has to driving his pimp-mobil so all the ladies can gawp at his Bling Not blinged up enough yet :o I am going to get the windows tinted as its not standard on the Zetec. I must admit that I do try to drive my normal daily route at around 55 mph as its mainly motorways and so I guess I do get the best return on that. I haven't worked it out myself yet and do use the on board 'computer' but I have noticed since my mark 2 that I have longer intervals now between filling up. i've got a 1.8 zetec n mine came with tinted windows Quote
longdon12 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i agree with tiny the mk3 is alot better looking the mk1 & 2 look like oddballs Quote

My thought is what ever the shape won't we all be sick of the sight of them when they have broken down ? :D Quote
mk3nick Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 The thing is the Mk1 & 2's are based on a, now dated, 10+ year old design...they will look more and more dated. Quote
mumof4 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i disagree, i think they look smart, especially the MKII.i like the smooth contours, the look of of it, the feel of how they handle, yep its a pain when something goes wrong and it seems never ending, but it happens across all makes and model of cars.i would never have a MKIII, as i really dont like the look of it.yep..purely cosmetic..but im allowed as im female :D Quote

Belleyeteres Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 I have the 125 6 speed diesel version. When we first got it we went to wales. It would stall when you pulled of on a hill. I also had a problem with it stalling after first starting. Had it in for repair. still stalled on start up once or twice so mentioned it when it went in for a service. It did it again the day after then nothing for 6 months. This last few month it started again. Have had to have the RAC out twice. No fuel at filter. Had the Rac out sunday while away on holiday. Fault occoured again last night so thought right leave it and get the dealer out to it so they can see the fault.Rang the dealer this morning, they can not send out a mechanic to look at the fault at home due to health & safety. But they can collect it. They will be in for a shock when they come for it has the fault will still be there and it will take a while before it finally bleeds itself. When I get running again after the fault it pulls away and runs like a dream. Then after a while it runs eratic when at roundabouts where you hate to drive it.RAC guy suspects it is fuel pump fault. If it does it again after it has been in I will not be buying another Ford when it is due for changing in December 2010.It is working out on average of the fault occuring once a month for the last 19 months. Some months not at all then another month it can do it 2 or 3 times. It is not the faults on the car that is putting me off but not being able to explain to a mechanic at the garage to give him a idea of where the fault could lie. Instead the girl on reception just writes down cold start problem. At the VW dealer I use I can speak to the mechanic if required. Quote
Belleyeteres Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 Well Galaxy has been in 2 more times for starting problems. The dealer had it for a few days. All ok till this week when it started playing up again. Dealer had it in again yesterday and said they could not find any faults. Today it is still sat on the drive where they parked it as it will not start at all. I have written to motabillity to see if we can swop it early has we have just had enough of it now. In the 20 months we have had it it has let us down no less then 30 times. I also asked the dealer when I booked it in if it could be serviced. 22300 on clock service due 23000. Told her we are going away on holiday and will go over while away. No service carried out has not done 23000 yet. It looks like we will have to hire a car for the holidays has I do not trust it any longer. We will never go for a Ford car of any discription again. Quote

Belleyeteres Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Car went back in to the dealer on the 24th August. The dealer has still has the car 5th September and still not able to rectify the fault. We have now lost interest in the car that we would prefer it if we never see it again except to collect our belongings. We have just had to use a loan hire car from Motability for the holiday. All we could get was a Puegeot 308sw. It has let us down every time we have gone on holiday or had a weekend away. Quote
Belleyeteres Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 Galaxy still in garage. Nearly 4 weeks now and Sandicliffe's still can not sort the problem. We have been given the chance to swop the car early so this morning have ordered a Volvo v70se.Delivery 2-3 weeks. Will miss the space of the galaxy but hopefully it will be more reliable. Quote
Mike E Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Are there any owners or drivers of the MKIII model with the 125 hp Diesel engine on this forum? I would like to know if this car also has trouble with starting weakness, and if there are software updates from Ford foreseen. Many thanks already for your help. Also other experiences with this car and engine are very welcome. I have a 2007 125 BHP 1.8 TDCI Its the slightly later model with the Magnets on the rear seatbacks - not the velcro So far (touch wood) - Only updates required have been for the SatNav - You have to get these direct fromBlaupunkt Hungry - and the 2nd update has a bug that affects the climate control system (So there is now a thrid issuewhich resolves this). You can install the update yourself from the front of the unit - its very easy. My car gets around 45 MPG around town......and staggeringly, on a very gentle drive to Newcastle and back, 5 up withluggage - we got 70 + MPG and 700+ miles from the tank (I thought amazing - but then I did have a ChryslerVoyager 3.3 LE before that) The car seems to be performing well - (kiss of death to say that) Hates 1/. Black interior - always wants hovering 2/. No spare wheel - the liquid into the wheel stuff is useless (5 hours on the M3 on a Friday evening with a flat tyre) 3/. Silver on the hanbrake handle and the fiddly plastic things - Fors want me to have a whole new handle for the sakeof a couple of pennies worth of plastic.....Now going to have to respray the thing myself and glue it on. Muchcheaper and easier than Quote
chubba Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Hi Every body, sorry to take the chat in a slightly different direction but as a new owner of my first Galaxy, I am really getting confused!! Just 4 days ago I bought what I believe to be a MkIII, on '56 plate (manufactured in June 2006, first registered in Dec 2006). This is a Zetec with the 1.8 TDCi 125 bhp engine. It has fold flat seats in both 2nd and third rows. But is this really a MKIII? My local dealer refered to the current model as the MkIII (ie the model I would get if bought it brand new today, but I understood the curent model was only introduced in 2010. Can anyone help solve my confusion so I can start buying accessories and spares please? many thanks. PS I agree the 125 bhp engine needs a bit of wellie from a cold start, but my experience is limited. Also I have noticed a dead spot in the engine revs when approaching round-a-bouts at about 10- 15 mph and then trying to accelerate on the RAB while in 2nd gear. I nearly collected a mini through the drivers door today when I put my foot down and there was a about a 3 second lag before the power built up and I was away. PPS I have also had the Zafira (3 of them) C8 and C4 grand picasso - all diesels and happy to swap experiences if anyone is interested. Quote
