  1. Hi, It will sound like a feeble excuse, but my telephone line has been down since my last post, therefore have not been able to get on line, it's the truth, honest. With great thanks to Mussey1 and the AlarmMan I have been able to get the Central Locking to work remotely, though I am having dificulty programming the module to enable "Automatic Comfort". I may or may not give up on this. Getting into Valet mode is easy enough to renable Keyfobs... I bought the Module from Sempal, it is a Spal AS80 and cost me
  2. Cheers Mussey1, Whilst thinking that the Orange wire had some purpose, I didn't realise that "Automatic Comfort" meant "Global Closure"
  3. :D Good one Green/Red conection unlocks the doors, indicators flash and courtesy lights do what they are supposed to :) At this stage I am very happy, but it would be nice to be able to have the windows (Global closure) close, as they are meant to. The LED continually flashes, I am sure it's not meant to, as when you are supposed to program the module, it gives 1 blink, 2blinks and so on...Now I aint sure if I get to program the module, what it will actually enable to happen, other than it says "Automatic Comfort" enable "on" from the factory default of "off"... You have been superb, any chance of getting the windows to work  And that orange (ruddy thing) what do I do with it, I get the impression it may have something to do with all this...
  4. Mussey1 Grey not conected meant to go to earth, thanks to AlarmMan doors lock with it unconected. Violet conected to permanent live, nothing works without it conected Orange ( dont know what to to with this one) when tempoarily conected to permanent live, nothing works. Yellow wires not conected, on locking, indicators flash. The module has no dip switches, but a LED and instructions on how to program the module from the key fob. Instructions are gobly gook, just like the rest of them. Wouldn't have got this far without you guys help :) Just going out to try the Green/Red.. When in town I called in at VW garage, very helpful. When they looked it up on their system acording to their wiring diagram. Yellow= Open, Yellow/Black= Closed I told them that I had conected the Grey= Closed, and it works. They think that I am conected to the electric window, and the pulse is feeding through to the lock. Getting confused, not that that is difficult
  5. Hey Mussey, thanks, I missed your last post, whilst typing to Alarm Man reply, as you will not have realised that unlocking is a problem you may have a point, will check it out :P unfortunatly I have to take my wife out shopping, if anyone can confirm that the unlock wire is as Mussey says on my VW, would appreciate it. Thanks everyone
  6. :P Alarm Man what can I say, thankyou so very much for replying late at night... I was up in the early hours reconecting wires time and time again, trying to figure out what I had done wrong and then bingo, remove the grey earth and presto something happens..If you don't mind could you assist in helping me finnish off my problems. Removing the grey earth, and making the Violet connected to a permanent live, enables me to lock all the doors, indicators flash, although electric windows dont close. When I try to unlock, the module is making the right noises but wont unlock doors, using the ignition key works. The module Orange is not conected, when I hold it to the permanent live, nothing works. Any sugestions what I do with this Orange. Finally, just a little thing, the Module LED, does this thing permanently flash? On the rear of the instructions it gives programable functions, I am meant to make the "Automatic comfort" , "on" from the default programming of "off". I await your instructions, your highness :P Thanks
  7. Must say thanks very much to mussy and alarm man, creep creep hope they can help further :P
  8. Will try and find somewhere else to get an earth, on my VW earth bolt is where you say it is, except it is a job and and half to get to it. There is to much dash to take off.
  9. Thanks for helping, positive locking This spal module has a flashing LED, when I connect the module wire (purple) to a live the LED flashes correctly for locking and unlocking, and the module clicks, nowt happens at the doors. Not sure if all the purple wire does is light the LED, though its the only time the module makes any noise... What I have is Module Blue/Red + Green/Red going through a 5 amp fuse to permanent live (this I have tested) Module Blue conected to Grey in loom to door Module Green conected to Green in loom to door Module Red conected to 15A fuse to permanent live (confirm, have tested) Module Black to earth Module Grey to earth Module pink,white,white/black, brown not required (car alarm) Module yellow (2off) conect to indicators (have not done as yet) Module Violet it says conect to +12v( +30 permanent positive) Module Orange it says conect to ignition live.. These last 2 confuse me as to where I am supposed to conect them, and what they actually do, the system supposedly does everything, like close electric windows, interior light and flash indicators. I know I am doing something wrong somewhere, if someone can tell me I would be eternally gratefull... As it stands at the moment I am scratching my head... :P
  10. cheers for the reply, do I need to conect to a permanent live, where it says attach to ignition?? how many live feeds does the thing need... There was enough slack to connect to the central locking where it comes in behind the kicker plate.. I am just going to reconect the earth as the bloody thing dont work.. probably, no, more likely I cocked up
  11. Thanks. I'll go and attach at the same point right now, Just tried my remote module, dont work...
  12. Mussey, Great photos, where did you conect your earth to?
  13. :P I am at this moment in the process of fitting a Spal Remote Control Central Locking, I have located nearly all the wire joints I have to make.My big problem is that I have to make a conection to the positive present at the ignition switch... To take the cowling off to get to barrel, there remains a screw in behind the steering wheel, I am dubious of setting off or knackering the air bag, does the VW badge come out with prizing? or is there somewhere else that I can find the wire I need to attach to? I CAN SURE DO WITH SOME HELP..... :P
  14. Took the plunge today and had my windows tinted by Pentagon, Bristol. Cost
  15. Sorry for not replying earlier, many thanks for your replies. This will probably sound stupid, but how the hell does the radio come out? It dosn,t have a removable facia and has none of those four hole thingy-mugingy to slide the radio out..if you know what I mean. If I can get the radio out hopefully as mentioned by Charles I can get to the wires to the cig lighter, otherwise I shall look for the gromit as Andy says. :(
  16. Hello :o VW (2000) Sharan 1.9tdi, new face lift model I am trying to get a 12v supply for my drop down LCD monitor, I am going to feed the power through a dashboard switch, got from Halfords. I originally wanted to take the power feed from behind the front cig-lighter. On inspection that dosn't look that easy to get at... would anyone know on how to get to the rear of cig-lighter or is it easier to go through the bulkhead, direct to the battery? anyone know of where to look so as to feed the cable through? :o Hoping you guys can help Koro
  17. Thanks _dg for the info, don't suppose anyone can come up with a cheaper alternative, still using a radio frequency? looks like the one mentioned will cost upwards of

  22. Hi, In a previous thread Fredt gave out an address of a supplier that converts central locking to remote. In th thread dq replied "Yes the supplier mentioned by fredt is worth contacting as the module just plugs in and no faffing with wiring and scotchlock connectors" Stupidly I never bookmarked the site, unfortunately fredt has deleted all his posts. I have droped dq an e-mail, who hopefully will no where the site is, just in case he dosn't remember , does anyone else know of the site that fredt refers to. Thanks Koro
