If you have climate contol (LCD panel in centre console), then "ECON" indicate the aircon is switched off. The Aircon is switched on when the panel shows "AUTO" or blank where "AUTO" is displayed. Being switched on doesnt guarantee its working though.

Last couple of weeks started to think....yeah...this is down to speculators....price of crude is drifting down.....not likely to make much impact on end user price tho....and then I read this morning.... :19: $139?? WOT!?* :19: Oh dear........its going to get worse......MUCH WORSE

I having been getting that feeling of "the end of the world is nigh" in the last few weeks. Everyone and his dog is reporting that everything is now in short supply and only kings and politicians will be able to afford them soon. The latest is .......water..... Goldman Sachs.......the bank that brought you "$200 oil is inevitable" (note: they are leading speculators in oil futures.....) have manged to dredge up another deluded "I am important so you must listen" person. Water crisis to be biggest world risk Only thing left now will be oxygen...... :D.......Spaceballs was right all along....

Why anyone gets uptight about "middle lane hogging" is beyond me. There is an outside lane as well....... The inside lane is for trucks and horse drawn carriages. The middle lane is for sensible drivers. The outside lane is for "important people" (or at least they think they are :) ) Anyone who gets worked up and uptight about their idea of motorway etiquette is looking for and probably deserves a heart attack....... ;)

What the hecks all this about? Is it something to do with drugs or dementia? Certainly filed correctly under nonsense....

Stalling And Non Starting Plus Other Faults
seatkid replied to Belleyeteres's topic in MKIII Technical section
And yet my almost 10 yr old 90bhp AHU TDi plods on reliably and economically, never skipping a beat, with massive torque available at idle speeds - accelerator is not needed to pull away...even from stand still in second gear. Compared to my "award winning" 1.3 multijet Corsa which stallls regularly and stutters at anything below 1400 rpm - I really am starting to think Common Rail is shite and you cant beat good old fashioned rotary pump diesels. The trouble with modern diesels is that "massive torque at 2000 rpm" means nothing when the torque at idle is zilch. -
Its the condensation drain from the aircon evaporator - its quite normal, shows the aircon is working well!

I suggest that you: Clean and check your system for spyware, viruses etc. - better still do a fresh install Ditch the all antivirus and all the other "protection"crapware (esp Norton) Install Spywareblaster and CCleaner Create a "user account" with limited access (i.e. no admin rights). Study and enable all the firewall features on your router (I assume it is a decent router). Even better if you block unused ports. Then for surfing and other day to day use, use the user account......no programs can be "installed" whilst in the user account as it does not have admin rights.

A few people have reported broken wire(s) to the fuseholder(s) and relaybase(s). Also poor connections to said relays.

** Galaxy Raod Tax, Whats Going On ?! **
seatkid replied to cos140's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I have little sympathy for people who have big v6's etc who moan about road tax, running costs etc. The writings been on the wall for a long time and although the VED changes are little sudden, it seems reasonably fair to me. Neither do I see this tax as backdating. Tax has to be raised somehow, if the PM wants to lower income tax, then something has to step in to take its place. If you wanted a cheap car to run, you should have done your homework and bought an appropriate model. You have seven seats, so per person it is still cheaper to run than a Range Rover, isnt it? :D BTW the EU is now looking to lower the average CO2 output to less than 95g/km by 2020. It may seem ridiculous but then so do the average American cars of the 1960's that barely managed 10 mpg. -
Driving down to Norwich on Friday (A17) - most garages seem to have settled at 129p/litre. Today, lots of garages locally hiked diesel again by up to 3p/litre. Even if crude comes down (as some predict) - I doubt we will see much downward movement in retail price. It doesn't seem to have made much difference to traffic levels though, I suspect that a lot of people will not change driving habits even if it climbed to

Higher Road Tax For Ford Galaxy Mk 1 And Mk 2
seatkid replied to El Dingo's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Mk1 owners need not fret since their cars were built before 2000. :) I've never seen an online petition that has ever had the slightest effect. (They just log the poster's details and file under "potential troublemaker....") -
40 deg F = 5 deg C. Its working fine! (much lower and the evaporator would ice up) You probably put the gauge on the high pressure port - the one near the radiator/condensor. Its supposed to go on the low pressure port - on a Mk1 its hidden behind the offside indicator, don't know where it is on the MK2 You either have overly high expectations or maybe your pollen filter is blocked leading to low air flow. Best temperature lowering is acheived by setting the CC to vents only and recirc.

Coolant Leak
seatkid replied to Ex-Galaxy person's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
[Rant mode on] Personally I feel that that a lot of these mysterious "its not the water pump or thermostat" type overheating problems are simply cracked/damaged heads due to previous owners chipping or adding "tuning" boxes. This highly unsavoury practice is more common than you think (I just dont believe that almost new cars, volvos seem to be a favourite, smoke so much in standard form). Its rarely reported to their insurance and at the first sign of trouble the box is whipped off and the car sold as having "one careful owner" to some innocent mug. Its not true that the difference the various bhp variants from VW is just the software. Thank ebay for most of this crap. [Rant mode off] -
heater lack of fan speeds - resistor pack failed. central locking probs - check batteries in key fob, reprogram key fob, broken wires in door rubber gaiters, water ingress into control unit.......as a rough guess and oh, hello.
-
Me thinks a lot of people have bought the MkIII Galaxy expecting pulling power like the the Mk1 and II - especially caravan owners. But ford don't make diesels like VW used to..... You can blame Euro IV / Euro V legislation for lack of low speed grunt.
