IIRC this thread is a repost. The original poster solved the snaking by fitting a ball which sat a few cm lower. This altered the aerodynamics of the caravan which was (originally) nose high and tending to "take off" at 55mph.

You can't change major hardware items and expect the original OEM copy of WIndows XP to work - cos it won't. The OEM Windows disk supplied is tightly tied in with the original hardware and simply wont work with the changes you propose. Microsofts licence expects you to ditch the software with the original kit. You can only make minor changes with OEM kit (even some of these changes will trigger a validation error). The expensive RETAIL version of Windows XP which is not supplied with computers you buy prebuilt allows major changes ad infinitum. Any major rebuild warrants a reinstallation of the OS.

If its like my "whistle" then... Partly blocked EGR valve. Its a high pitched whistle (sort of old style TV whistle ~6-8kHz). Symptoms were - only did it when warm and is worst when constant speed/part load. Pitch (frequency) stayed the same only the volume changed with a tendency to appear or disappear abruptly. I cured mine by using double dose of Millers Diesel Sport 4 and some sustained Italian tuneups (welly) over a couple of weeks. LOTS of black smoke during the Italian tune up. :) You could always remove the EGR valve and clean it by hand. :D

Bad luck, hope there won't be any unexpected surprise insurance claims..... Looks as if you got some bad rust there (hence the holes). Make sure they fix the rust if you want to keep the car a long time.

Did you use a genuine Ford Lambda sensor or a cheap "Universal" lambda sensor? I've read the universal sensors are no good in this application.

For a "new" car, from reports so far, these MkIII's seem to have some horrendous design faults. Looks like the 1.8tdci should be avoided like the plague.....esp if you want to tow.

Unfortunately yes, (I assume its 1.9 diesel) But AFAIK the water pump is not driven by the cam belt. If the cambelt was changed by a dealer, he should have changed the tensioner (most likely cause of failure) and I would think you could claim against him.
