  1. stationary pressures maybe a little high but OKish. Did he give a figure of gas weight put in? (should be 950g) Running - lo is OK but high side is too low - mine in comparison is 220 psi Possibilities: 1. Compressor knacked (internal seals gone) 2. Expansion valve is stuck (open) - this is located on the high pressure side of the evaporator - possibly due to debris. 3. Compressor clutch slipping (but I think you would get a strong smell and smoke) Take your pick.......

  3. Anyone who tells you its working fine despite no cold air is an idiot. ;) You shouldnt pay him! As I said in one of your previous posts - you should measure the voltage at the compressor connector (with the compressor still connected though!) - with the engine running this should read 13+ volts. If it is much lower, then the compressor clutch wont engage fully. You could also check the electrical resistance of the clutch to check the windings in the clutch. What I am getting at is the problem is probably the compressor clutch. Go to kwikfit and let them have a go - there's no charge if it doesn't work - their machines are the correct type (computerized and no sight glasses!) and they will give you a report that details system pressures both on the hi and lo sides before and after as well as system gas weights. From the pressures you will be able to ascertain if the compressor is working or not (mine gave 15 bar at hi port and 2.2 bar at lo port when running)

  5. Possibly crankshaft position sensor - VAGCOM will pick that up.
  6. The wires can also short which would effect all speakers. Just wiggle the boots with the radio on and it may be obvious.
  7. Check the wires in the rubber gaitor to the door, wiggling it about usually shows it up. The wires in here are prone to breaking.

  11. It might have bent the gearbox shaft enough to cause the release bearing not to side freely which in turn might not fully release the clutch...... Only way to tell is a stripdown. Several reports about slave cylinders leaking and contaminating clutch plates....

  13. Irregardless of your sensor readings, remember the MOT failed because of high Lambda? They measure it independently with their probe. That indicates your sensor is faulty and giving the wrong output for the given Oxygen level. (It looks OK when you measure the voltage because the ECU control loop adjusts the mixture to give a set voltage from the sensor.....) If the oil pressure light is not flickering on a slow idle (hot engine) then I doubt its oil pressure. You could measure oil pressure by removing the switch and plugging in an oil pressure gauge. AFAIK its likely the relief valve is built into the oil pump housing (sump off job). Deep muffled regular bang/tick at tickover only? Sounds like a big end or other crankshaft bearing. (Not as big a job as it sounds...)
  14. These wheels were not recommended by manufacturer but by a Halfords brochure. And they certainly werent the standard factory fit. The wheels and tyres could conceivably affect transmission components (although it's unlikely). Manufacturers/AA have to draw the line somewhere - modifications are modifications - a telephone call would have clarified the situation.

Buy dog poo.....don't expect a sweet smell. :ph34r: I'm surprised you got a new battery, you won't get a new clutch - thats a wear and tear item. Might the gearbox problem be related to the clutch problem? i.e. With a new clutch the gearbox might behave itself. Better remove that tuning box though...... :angry2: As I have said on other posts, ALWAYS consult/declare modifications to your insurance/warranty provider. You shouldnt be surprised to hear that your insurance will be invalidated if you havent declared the wheels and exhaust. (They are particularly hot on wheels) Read the small print of the warranty thoroughly, and if you're absolutely certain they should do the job, bang the small claims in, at worst you'll lose around
  16. If you lost all your oil and water, its a fair bet the head is warped. When you had the head gasket changed you had the head checked and skimmed, right? Because the warped head's the reason for your original failure. Just changing the gasket was wrong and only bought a little time, after which the oil and water started to disappear. You may have caused a lot of damage this second time round as it was obviously close to seizing. What the betting this engine had a tuning box fitted in a earlier life?
  17. I think the calibration can be changed to match the model but you need a dealer with the right equipment. In any case it may not be changeable once it has been setup and used - to prevent fraud (clocking)
  18. IIRC......it should be 1 More than 1 = too lean less than 1 = too rich it failed the MOT because a high lambda implies high NOx emissions, NOx is not measured directly by the probe, it can only measure CO and HC

  23. Lack of grunt will be associated with Lambda problem - High Lambda means its running weak so it will fluff and your valves will run very hot possibly pinking or preignition too. If you've had the problem a while you may have cooked the oil around the tappets. Fix the Lambda problem first.
