  1. A lot of lesser cars (superminis etc) inc my Corsa have one red fog light on right and one clear reversing light on left nowadays. Ridiculous cost cutting/design compromise as it renders the car somewhat illegal when driving in fog in Europe..... :D
  2. Kev, you can get help here
  3. Hey, if you don't get em to fix their own bikes now, then it'll be down to mum fixing their Corsas etc later on....... I take it you have submitted the offending third parties details to your insurance.......and as it was a child involved, maybe the police as well..... ;)
  4. So...in case you haven't got a ruler...it's basically a dick's length from the bottom and a dick's width from the side ;)
  5. It should be prevented from operating by the three way pressure switch which IIRC is mounted on the dryer ;) . Either it is damaged or someone has spragged it out. :D (Electrician's talk for bypassing electrically )
  6. The fact that it didnt get picked in the MOT doesn't make it legal. Of course the only potential victims here are other road users. IMO Its a similar story to those that remap/tuning box their motors and don't declare it to insurance, which, incidently I suppose you have...
  7. And what speed do you average around town? i.e. where the speed limit is mostly 30mph......
  8. Flattery will get you everywhere nowhere - you've come to the wrong place!
  9. Somehow I know I'm going to regret this........... Today's speedo pic -
  10. Oh good! Now I can find out what that big lever in between the seats is for! :)
  11. Yes....I would agree
  12. I suggest you check the wiring loom to the unit injectors. The connectors at the injectors are known to become dodgy causing the intermittent symptoms you describe. Sometime just a clean up of connectors will suffice, other times you need a new (updated) loom, known problem according to previous posts.
  13. whats the catch? :)
  14. Aftermarket HID kits are illegal - this has been recently clarified by the Department for transport further info here
  15. Sorry.........the answer is here......your owner's manual Stating the obvious is one of my failings.....
  16. Is it just me or am I have oroblems understanding people nowadays? Please don't take offence but......RTFM as they say on lesser forums! :16:
  17. At the risk of being flamed, can I humbly point out that aftermarket HID kits are now officialy illegal. There is a letter published by DOT (its somewhere on HJ) stating the requirements of HID lights... self levelling, correct beam pattern, self washing and DOT approval.... and that no aftermarket kit has approval therefore making only factory fit HID's legal. Subsequently anyone fitting such kit is committing a criminal offence (their words not mine) and invalidating their insurance. Autoexpress views about HID kits
  18. You can't beat that old Tdi engine......even if it did need a new turbo...
  19. I take your point and appreciate your concern for my safety, Gio so I followed your advice and googled whilst accelerating from 1st to 2nd gear and found this advice from rospa however..... 1. My tyres live undercover in a garage when not rolling on a road and are protected from UV and weather attack most of the time. 2. I regularly clean, inspect condition and measure tyre depth, so far no significant signs of cracking, glazing or deformation. 3. They are silica based tyres And no..... the lights havent changed yet!....... Anyway, my family don't seem concerned. Oh, could you also pack my wife's uneaten half pizza in a box to take home, please........ :16:
  20. Hey, if someone replaced my clutch for nowt, I'd glady make the tea and they even could call me a barsteward once or twice.... ;)
  21. It definitely has a fuel pump relay - it is buried in a multi level fuse box - A guide of how to find the relays (MkII but should also apply to Mk I)
  22. You get used to it, I only really notice it when braking to a halt.
  23. Sounds like low compression due to bore/ring wear.
  24. The accepted wisdom is to fit the best tyres on the back and the worst at the front. One of the reasons being that a blowout on the front is easier to control than one on the back. This is DOT advice and you will find a lot of tyre centres will now only fit a new pair of tyres on the front as company policy.
  25. Do you not have a spare key? Where did you change the key battery?.....At home?....think..... .....afraid my knowledge is limited in this area. If you try searching the forum, there have been several topics on keys, immobilisers etc
