Aren't these "bonus accelerator programs" just 10 month policies - i.e. a scam? -

Just some thoughts..... Does it work in manual? I would hazard a guess that the problem might be a slow or sticking solenoid valve in the control block on the auto box. If the gearchange is too slow, the engine ECU will think there is a fault. Can the control block be stripped and flushed clean? Could also be a faulty or incorrectly adjusted sensor, or a worn or incorrectly adjusted brake band. According to HJ recon Jatco gearboxes are available from

Agreed. Highly unlikely to be ECU. I don't suppose they swapped it to confirm the "diagnosis" Rather it will be wiring, relays, sensors or mechanical bits. -
The immobiliser chip has possibly fallen out of your key (when you opened it?). Use your spare key to confirm.

My driver heated seat packed in under warranty. I thought it was the fuse, but the dealer told me the element (pad) had gone. They replaced the pad which must slide out. I would check there is 12 volt at the connector to the seat before you start pulling it apart though.

Brighter Headlight Bulbs
seatkid replied to davewill's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Some of the vendors advertising on the link that MO4 provides state "HID conversion kit" when in fact all they are selling you are halogen lamp bulbs. They are committing an offence under the trade description act. It is illegal to fit an aftermarket HID kit, read the DOT information for the reasons, and don't believe the ebay or chinese twaddle about their kit being euro compliant because it ain't. "Blue" bulbs are just ordinary bulbs with a blue coating on them. This has 2 effects - it filters out the longer wavelength light to give a "whiter" appearance and it also make the bulb less efficient, so dimmer! If overdone, the light output may appear blue, in which case you are committing an offence as use of external blue lights on motor vehicles is permitted only by the police and emergency services, and you could, in theory, be nicked. -

The best legal bulbs....in order...... Philips Xtreme Power +80% Philips Vision Plus +50% Osram SilverStar + 50% Note that factory fit are probably Philips/Osram +30% bulbs. The above bulbs are whiter and a bit brighter but don't expect a dramatic difference apart from being about -

Adding Traction Control
seatkid replied to insider's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
AFAIK it has never been claimed that ABS helps you steer to round obstacles - thats ESP. (Remember the hoohaa concerning the Mercedes A class and the "elk" test which forced Mercedes to adapt ESP as standard?) Using ABS is actually the most effective way to brake on ice - more effective than a human could manage - though granted on sheet ice the stopping distances could be very long, on intermittent icy patches ABS excels and reacts far faster than a human can think and under these circumstances some steering control will also be maintained (though not full) Loose snow and loose gravel are the only surfaces that ABS will give you a disadvantage (over fully locked wheels). Thankfully due to modern tyres and modern steering geometry that use of power steering allows, most people don't trigger ABS very often if at all. I guess some ABS systems/implementations will be better than others though. And having ESP "switchable" and encouraged to be turned off by idiots like Clarkson, Hammond and Tiff Nidell to make the car more "exciting" defeats all the safety benefits..... -
I think you should get that ABS fixed......
