Hi Lads Brain-picking time! I found that my auxilliary heater was not working last year. I used my workmates vagcom module to interrogate the ecu. It came up with a dosing pump error. I replaced the dosing pump with one I got from a scrap dealer(he hadn't a clue what I was looking for!). Still no joy. Is there any step by step approach to find the fault- voltages etc... Its a 05 auto 1.9tdi Galaxy. Sorry for butting in on a semi-related topic. I noticed one of 'ye had upgraded the heater so I guessed I was in the right company!!!!! Also, I had it out on the floor- half diassembled- only because from what I can see while under the car, I have to take off the water pipes to take the top cover of the heater off. The glow plug had wires moulded into it so in order to replace the glowplug I need to get the cover off which I'm slow to do because of the water draining out. I think its a Hydronic II, D5Z-F - 12V Any ideas. Do you think replacing the heater would be a better idea?Company that sells them second-hand Thanks

Aux Heater Temp And Fuse Errors In Handbook
niallsan replied to edatelder's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, I believe its 5 deg. Do't know about the fuse colours!? -
I had to change the rear pads today- one of them was worn down to the metal on the pad. One of the sliding caliper attachment bolts was seized- big time! Couldn't get it to budge- I think I bent it slightly from all the hammering, squeezing, twisting. I reckon that's why the inside pad was sooo worn, cause outside pad had a good few thou miles left on it. The inside pad was doing all the work because the caliper was not pulling in properly as a result of the slider seizure. Left an email with Traynors in Northern Ireland to see if they had a scrapped anchor plate- more money spent on this Galaxy! Not turning out to reliable I'm afraid. The list is getting bigger, 1)coolant temp sensor(covered under warranty tg!) 2) parking sensor module and sensors x2(

Says File is corrupt when I try to download it?! Is the control unit IN the housing or situated somewhere else in the car? Anyway for over €100 I think the best option would be just to go out and start the car a bit earlier in the morning! :46: I absolutely hate not having something working in the car though- it will bug me until I replace it or the car! Oh sorry someone else answered the question re the control unit in another post- thanks.

Ooops, :( I meant to include model details! It's a 2005 Galaxy, 1.9tdi 115bhp, Automatic. Here is a pic of the burn/flame sensor. Sorry about the blurry photos. Burner.ppt

Hi, I have a booster heater that is not firing. It runs for a short while alright but never fires up. I tried taking it apart but to get the glow plug out I had to remove the combustion chamber cover. However to do that I had to remove one of the water pipes( the output I think) and I wasn't really prepared to do that(get wet or have to bleed the system afterward!) The burner is similar to the ones on this post but the glowplug is hardwired or has the wires already attached(see pic). I rang the main dealer and(after asking the mechanics to know what the devil I was talking about) it will cost

Parking Sensors (front & Rear)
niallsan replied to galaxy_1.9TD_Zetec's topic in MKIII Technical section
Just an update on the fix for above:- Brought the problem to the local Ford dealer. They swapped a known good control box(under passenger seat)from another Galaxy into mine and found a front sensor defective(none were working with my control box). Replaced the original control box and- still noy working. I had to order a new control box. New box arrived- plugged it in-now front transducers work but one of the rear ones was defective. The garage had made sh1t of the transducer taking it out and replaced it with the wrong orientation!!! Which, by the way, is impossible! Ordered a new transducer on ebay for half of what the garage is looking for- -
Parking Sensors (front & Rear)
niallsan replied to galaxy_1.9TD_Zetec's topic in MKIII Technical section
I think I went overboard with power washing the front bumper on the gal and now when the parking aid is switched on I get two beeps from the rear buzzer followed by about 5 second blast from front buzzer. I checked the rear sensors and they all(4) are emmitting high frequency burst. Went to the front and as far as I can tell none of the transducers are emitting anything. So, am I correct in saying, that if there is a fault with one of the tranducers in the front - non of the FRONT transducers will work???????? -
I had the same problem. Turned out to be a defective coolant temperature sensor.

For those interested. Removable Bosal towbar works a treat. Affter bumper removal which is really easy- mind you the clips at the side of the bumper need a bit of muscle to coax out. Anyone with a socket set, phillips screwdriver and a torque wrench can fit this item. The towbar comes with basic instuctions anyway. Saved me at least

I Think thats a good idea!

Can anyone tell me, what is the noise coming from under the offside rear passenger door(underneath the car). When I check it out, it looks and sounds and smells like a domestic oil burner. I think there is a nozzle, of sorts, blowing air onto the exhaust? Only seems to come on in cold weather?

Which Oil Type For Pd Diesel
niallsan replied to gazza007's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yes & I'm still around !!! I've used the Millers XFE PD since then but may try the Comma next as it's cheaper. Sorry for being thick, but what type of engine is a PD engine? Is it in the 05 model? -
I went with the removable type. It is more expensive but I think if I get any hassle from the reversing sensors at least I can take off the ball. Count yourselves lucky! I've been quoted 600+ Euro to get a removable hitch fitted in a dealer over here. I am getting delivered from Towequipe for approx. 350 Euro! I've a small confession. We have been around Ireland with the caravan for four Summers and I still haven't fitted a stabiliser!! I'd hate to see what we look like to the people driving behind us! Most of the roads are small anyway so you have no choice but to drive slowly. If the hitch deal works out alright I might splash out and get a stabiliser. There must be one out there to match a detachable towbar. I made my own bypass relay kit. When I asked one towbar fitter if he ever needed them, he swore(literally) that he never 'ehad any problem and he has wired lots of galaxy's for the main dealer 'down the road'. We'll see! I'll let 'ye know. Thanks for the advice. A pity I didn't discover this forum sooner, would have saved a lot of head scratching!

Thanks! Should come in handy. Logged on and purchased already! I'm planning on fitting a towbar to my Galaxy next week providing Towequipe deliver on time. I hope its as staight-forward as most of 'ye say. Does the Towbar actually go into the chassis frame, 'cause I can't see how else to attach the Towbar pictured on the Bosal .pdf file?
