Ford Etis Reg Lookup Trick
big wheel replied to whoop_whoop's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I have just spotted this link and it still works. As this was a Ford demonstrator when I bought it two months old with 500 miles on the clock, it was fitted with loads of extras from the factory. It was interesting to see all they stuff they put on it, but noticed they never put the engine number on there. Maybe they put a bit more effort into building it for themselves, because touch wood, very little has gone wrong in nearly ten years. I bet that has put a curse on it now... :44: -
Found my photo, I will upload it again. They said I can take more than 15kg, and a telly and a fridge.

Where did my photo go ????

I have just been looking at a cheap package holiday to Goa. It's with a well known company but they are cutting back on new planes. I have seen the plane on the internet, DO YOU THINK I SHOULD START TO WORRY. :o

I'm just winding you up. Trying to put a bit of fun back into this site. I remember years ago mumof 4 got picked on by everybody, it went on for page after page. Bet she's a granny by now.....

Hi Craig, Don't be making work for yourself, do you really need to take the washer bottle out. Get a piece of plastic pipe and siphon the water and crud out. Stick a hose down the tank to blow the rubbish out. If the motor is working, fill it with warm water a let it flush the system out. I am not sure about the mark 3, but all the mark 2's suffered with leaking rear washer pipes. Check the passenger foot well for water, the pipe runs under the door sill. It was a clever idea of a push connector that blew apart when the rear jet was blocked. Glue it together then bind it with wire, remembering to always keep the rear jet clear of polish. Finally give it a good amount of screenwash to stop it freezing in the winter, hope this helps. ps. go to the general area of this site and have a laugh telling us where you live.

na na de na na, sticks and stones. You are just jealous we live in the sunny n/w and are more friendly. Come on chris and greg, tell us where you are hiding down south. We, sorry that doesn't sound right, I mean I, might be dragging a caravan around the south coast one day and might offer you a cup of tea. This is just a bit of fun to find what area people live in, we won't be sending you junk male, or turning up with a gang of screaming kids, sorry mumof4, no pun intended, he he he. We have cheap fuel and beer up here...lol

Well hello Ben from Preston. Tell us more, what are your problems. There are plenty of answers on this website, if you've got it, we've had it. There are people like Gregers and Chrispb123456 who have been on here for years. I think if you turn the 10 commandment tablets over, you will find they wrote on them too. he he.

Helllllllllllllllllloooooooooooo Again
big wheel replied to mumof4's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Don't do twitter, don't know what a snapchap is, and hate facebook. Do like the idea of local areas meeting up in a nice country pub for a shandy and comparing cars, and sharing car faults and cures. We could even invite a 14 year old spotty laptop whizz kid to plug into the cars and find all the hidden faults. I hate being old, might change my name to grumpy big wheel, but I still think talking face to face beats the virtual world. I have just spent the weekend at the classic car show in Manchester, brilliant. Everybody was so friendly and loved talking about all makes of cars. Gone are the days when you could rebuild a car with 5 spanners and a screwdriver, and I forgot a "big hammer". I am also looking for a car air freshener that smells of Castrol R. This will sort the men from the snapchat boys. Todays rant over.....:-) -
Did you check the pdf file, is it a con to get you in, or are they being nice. Mine stated going cloudy about 2 years ago, now it's nearly all white.

Helllllllllllllllllloooooooooooo Again

Hi Chris, I'm back as well. Still got the Gal, not a problem for years until I got a flat tyre last week. I think people use the spare about 3 times in life of the car, and when you need it in the middle of the night, it BREAKS. What a stupid system, a plastic wheel that snaps in half. -
Hi lads and girls, How many well cared for Ford cars do you see with discoloured badges. It's a design fault that has gone on for years, and Fords would never admit it. Well I spotted this on the web a week ago ( hope this PDF file works ) and Fords have held their hands up to this fault. If it's already on this site I have never spotted it. Go get something for free..... :-) ford badges.pdf

Two weeks later and I still can't get it right. I think I need an eye test. ;)

Naughty boy, stop speeding. If as you say, all the linkage has been checked out and is fine, then switch the back wheels to the front and see what happens. If it goes, then you know it's the wheels, if it doesn't, then you start looking elsewhere. You have a wide choice of linkage, driveshaft balance, even engine mountings, or wheel bearings. Best of luck, and keep us informed, unless you get nicked.

OIL TYPE USED - TDI ONLY
big wheel replied to jkspoff's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Here is something for you all to play with... www.opieoils.co.uk If you click on engine oils, then find the product for my car, say 05 Galaxy 1.9 diesel. You get your famous Miller pd 5/40 oil that tim-spam goes on about. Now do the same again with but with a Sharan or Alambra and you get Miller's 5/30 longlife oil this time. I thought they were the same engine, you can even try the passat. All the VW's seem to use the same 5/30 longlife oil. Somebody please explain. -
Diy Cambelt Change On A Tdi
big wheel replied to SolarB's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
As you will see from the post above yours (engine noise) I did mine yesterday. You will spend more time trying to get the sump guard off if you haven't got a ramp. While it's off, have a good nosey around for loose pipes, cables and leaks, that thing hides a multitude of sins. You can buy the tools off sealey to make it easier, but it can be done without. What you need is a 4mm drill and circlip pliers for the tensioner and a 6mm for the cam. But as Chris says, the best and least expensive thing to get is Tipex. With any job, not just this one, is mark everything you take off or slacken off. Also put the belt on the cam/ water pump and crank first, leaving the slack side for the tensioner. Then before you jump for joy that you have done it, turn the engine over (by hand) a couple of times to make sure all your Tipex marks line up. Then when it's running, nip around to the pub and tell all your mates how clever you are, not in the car I should add. -
Why do you say that, when I have run it with the belt off and it's still there ?
-
Hi Chris, No mate, wrong end. If you stick your head under the bonnet it sounds like the flywheel end, but when you drive it sounds like a drive belt idler, so you presume it's that end. I have had mechanic mates listen to it and it's been things like, turbo bearings, fuel pump on the end of the camshaft, even planet wheels in the gearbox. The most popular one was cam or aux belt tensioners, guide pulley or water pump and the sound resonates through the engine. Well they have all been done now,so it's back to the expensive bits. If you can remember back a thousand year when cars where fun, it's the sound a spigot bush or thrust bearing would make.
-
Well lads here's the latest update, Took the Alt' belt off, ran it, noise still there. Stripped it down and replaced, cambelt, tensioner, guide pulley, water pump,Aux belt and tensioner. What was the end result of all this hard work, #######ing noise is still there. It comes and goes, sometimes it's like a whine, but not like a turbo scream. It's more like a chatter that you get with a slipping belt. I feel better that I know all the belts and pulleys have been changed, but it still miffs me off. So I think the next stage is going to be an Italian tuneup, rag the nuts out of it, and blow all the crap out the turbo. Any more ideas lads, in the meantime I will turn the radio up a bit more.

OIL TYPE USED - TDI ONLY
big wheel replied to jkspoff's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I know this has gone on for five years about oil and nobody seems to agree. So to add fuel to the fire, here is a new one on me. I have a noise in my engine, I am going to put a new cambelt and idler pully on this week. So I thought if I am going to take the sump guard off, I will change the oil as well. So off we trot to the local Fraud dealers to buy the proper cam parts and engine oil. What is the proper oil for a 1.9 tdi PD 05 plate, and this is what he gave me. OPUS fully synthetic 5w/30 from the synopus range, made by Fergson & Menzies in Scotland. What ever happend to people like Duckhams. He is either pulling my chain, or he has just had their Rep in and done him a good deal, but he says that's what they use and it's the best for that engine. So we will give it a go, any thoughts from you oil experts.
