  1. Not wanting to upset you, but engines use science, not pure faith, the fact is 1100 rpm is way too low to have such a tall gear pull efficiently, thats a law of science. like i said at 40 mph 5th gear would indeed give better rpm. I am sure if you were to do a top up, rather than trust the trip computer you would see the piont i am making, and it is not anattack on you, but is based on facts, and not faith. regard Gio
  2. Yep, not too impressed with the galaxys mpg, but it is a big heavy object so should not be serprised. 40 mph in 6 gear! what with the galaxy having gearing around 32/33mph x 1000, 1100 rpm aint going to be doing anything good for your mpg, becides which this would be a instant reading on the trip computer and the secound you put your foot dowm the instant reading would shoot down to low 30s. at that speed you may well found 5th gear giving better mpg than 6th, as labouring is a no no. 68 mph or 70 mph, not really going to make much of a diference to the mpg. you get a bigger diference on the type of roads you use [inclines, traffic] not to mention how windy these isles are and what a diference a small breeze against you can make. really would love to crack 50mpg in my galaxy, but it aint going to happen unless i took myself behind a large hgv doing 54mph.......
  3. thanks for the reply.....
  4. nickpV please explain? Does that mean i have wasted my time trying first to clean my MAF? It looks identical to my ALFA jtds MAF, and nothing ever mentioned on there about different types of MAF..
  5. YES i will. today i have cleaned my old MAF using alcohol bought from the chemist, its called [isop... something] as yet have not driven it to see what if any diference there is, but i intend to get a new one maybe this weekend or the wekend after...
  6. believe my galaxy 115 lack some lowdown grunt, although have only had it 5 weeks, did expect more punch. MAFs do stop working properly over time and it does go unnoticed. have ordered a new one from my local ford dealer
  7. Check that you have no white looking gue in either your oil or your water, this way you can eleminate, or prove your head gaskets gone. The other main option is indeed you turbo seals have gone. But there are other reasons why you could have this problem, although the two above are the most likely.. sorry......
  8. thank you.. i have now found the link..... I am surprised at ford for wanting so much money for what looks like 5 minutes work, if you know what you are doing! which i don't.
  9. Thank you for the link. I'm the one whose paying, but i will bring this to the garages attention,as they are not a bad lot believe it or not. Anyone know a way around paying such huge amounts for a replacement key and reprograme? I know a lot about spending money, as i have just sold my Alfa, yet resent paying well over
  10. hi, obviously new to this forum. have bought a y reg 115bhp 6 speed tdi. Its sitting in a garage at the moment, went in for a cambelt and oil change, turns out it needs a aux belt tensioner too........ Also only came with one manual key, and am shocked at the prices ford wants! manual
