I did it last weekend, dead easy, no problem, get the electrics kit from Towsure it has the special relay for the bulb failure system. If you need any help email me directly john@lincit.com (you need to fill out the anti-spam form) and I'll give you all of the details. Regards - John P.S. I couldn't find any pre-wired sockets in mine at all.

Hi, I put the cables into some flexible conduit mainly for mechanical protection and routed them the same way the reversing sensors go. The existing cables had no additional heat protection so I wouldn't bother personally. Regards - John

>>I only ever use 'Econ' as i'm concerned about the increase in MPG when using the AC. I will use the AC when it's really hot (two days each year?!!)<< Well I'm glad I'm not a passenger in you car ! Climate control makes such a difference in the car, de-humidifies (more important than temp for comfort), controls the temp rtc etc. The fuel consumption aspect is negligible, would you consider driving without using heated rear window or headlights ? they also have an effect of mpg. I find the biggest influence on MPG is the brake pedal, drive round as if you don't have one and watch those numbers rise, then swicth on the aircon and enjoy. Regards - JB P.S. You could always get a TDi and don't worry about the mpg at all #8o)

Hi, Tonight is the first time I've towed with my Gal and what a pleasant suprise it was. I towed a 4 whell Tow-A-Van total weight 1850Kg with my 115 TDi Auto. The engine is just amazing, 60mph, 5th gear on the motorway, cruise set, 33.7mpg !!! Hills no problem at all, stayed in 5th all the way. The vehicle itself absolutely rock steady no snaking about, the only vehicle I have towed with that is better was a Range Rover but that only managed 11 mpg ! Well done Ford/Seat/VW Regards - JB

Well I have to say so far I'm impressed with the Climate Control on my Galaxy. I have NEVER had to adjust anything, the temp being set 20 deg front 21 rear and no-one has complained too hot / too cold it just keeps the car comfortable. The display on mine shows AUTO when this mode is selected irrelevant of fan speed, the Auto switches off if manual adjustments are made to fan speed or air distribution. The ECON just disables the compressor. On mine the compressor runs breifly every startup but the only runs if demisting is selected or the air temp is high. Regards - JB

In AUTO the compressor will be on ONLY if cooling is required.

How Do You Know When Climate Control Is Aok?
johnb80 replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
How odd, the warmer it is outside the air con gets cooler inside ? Regards - JB -
I converted my 4.2 Litre Range Rover to LPG under the watchful eye of RPi engineering, it had all the certifications needed for insurance etc. The car ran great on LPG, no problems, no loss of bootspace, the tanks were underneath. The cost of the conversion was

How Do You Know When Climate Control Is Aok?
johnb80 replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I'm sure somewhere there will be a specific test procedure, a simple test would be to select a low temperature (NOT THE 'LO' setting) say 18 degrees or so, with the engine running the a.c. compressor should cycle on and off. You should hear a distinct click when it comes on with a small drop in engine revs followed by a quieter thud when the compressor clutch de-energises. It can run for quite a while, especially at tickover and if the internal temp is high. Regards - JB -
Funny that, a similar thing happened to me yesterday, I was doing a nice steady 56MPH (60 limit), cruise control on, Julie Cruise on the CD, Aircon on cold and some moron in another Galaxy flew past me so fast I really thought the cruise control must have switched off but no the SatNav confirmed I was still doing 56mph, the mpg showing high 40's. I needn't have worried, 2 miles further down the road he was talking to a nice friendly police constable with a speed gun in his hand. Me ? I just smile, carry on and enjoy the ride. Been there, done that with the fast cars, really enjoy my oil burner now and wouldn't swap it for any other engine other than maybe a TDCi as and when it becomes available. Caio - JB

You V6 drivers have got it all wrong, ok you get to 60 quicker but I bet from the lights the diesel would take it, the torque figures speak for themselves V6 having a measley 265Nm@3400 rpm against the oil burners 310Nm@ a leisurely 1900rpm, can't beat you in the insurance groups though, your a whole 3 levels ahead ! Just finished fitting a TowBar with a removeable towing attachment to my 2003 115 TDi Auto. I got the bar and the electrics kit from Towsure in Sheffield. The bar was simplicity itself to fit and took less than an hour, another 90 minutes being taken by the electrics. It hasn't caused any problems with the reversing sensors with or without the ball in situ and I thouroughly recommend the Towsure bar, it's well engineered and very simple. Regards - JB

115 Tdi Auto Box Slips Into Neutral
johnb80 replied to edmondsj's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
How do you check the fluid level in the autobox, mine doesnt appear to have a dipstick for the tranny. Regards - JB -
On my Galaxy (2003 TDi Ghia Auto) the sensors look to be infra red rather than ultrasonic. Regards - JB

The cruise light works on my Nov 2003 115TDi Ghia Auto. Regards - JB

I'm going to fit (or have fitted) a towbar to my 2003 115 TDi Ghia Auto Galaxy. Do you have any recommendations / suggestions / points to watch out for. I do have parking sensors installed, ideally I'd like a removable ball type towbar if one exists for the Gal. Regards - JB

Thanks Tigger, Mines an oil burner too 115 TDi, I'm going to give it a go without a cooler and see what happens, if the worst comes to the worst I still have 30 months warranty ! I also have another frugal vehicle MCC Smart Car Cabrolet, 65ish to the gallon on petrol, very, very quick (suprising) and only

Hi, I ordered a new Galaxy in Oct 2003 with SatNav. The dealer said that they could not obtain one in my time frame with SatNav but could fit the unit themselves with a price penalty of

I did have a look at the other postings but couldn't see anyone who had fitted an oil cooler or that sufferred failure through not fitting one. My feeling is the same as yours don't bother and take it easy, I don't go fast at the best of times and even less so when carrying my models around. Thanks for your reply, hope the easter bunny is being generous with you. Regards - JB

Hi, I am considering buying a Tow-A-Van to carry aroung my model aircraft. I used to use a Transit van but thats now up for sale and some of my bigger models will not fit inside the Galaxy. The Van I am considering weighs 1000Kg and the journeys will be about 10 times per year, 180 miles average. I am an 'easy' driver i.e. I don't nail the pedal to the floor and I only use brakes if I have to (plays havoc with the MPG readings). So what I really want to know is do I have to fit an oil cooler, if so does anyone have any idea how much they cost for a Gal, does a Towbar cause any problems with the reversing sensors when not towing and apart from a big bang and no drive does the transmission give any warning of high temperatures ? Kind Regards - JB

So far as the Espace goes I think it is the very best people carrier of all without exception. DON'T GO AND BUY ONE THOUGH ! 2 years ago I had a 2.9 Espace, top of the range, bells and whistles etc, I purchased it used (13 months old), 35,000 miles on the clock and a full Renault Warranty. The warranty covered and I quote "All mechanical and electrical items" pretty good, no problem there. The first problem arose within 3 months on the first long journey (180 miles) on the motorway, 70 (ish) the gearbox decided to start playing tunes 4th - 2nd -4th - 3rd for a while etc. The dealer re-seated the ECU but the problem remained, new gearbox fitted under warranty

Isn't this space needed for rotating the front seats round to face backwards ? Regards - JB
