Have to agree with the weight on the seats but then again the money you'll save in gym membership will help towards the garage bills when it goes wrong. Also I have a 2002 ghia spec with the sports seats. These don't come with the swivel option or the heating pads but are so much more comfortable and supportive than the standard ones I had in my Mk1.

I wanted a bit of advice from you. My car is in the garage at the moment having a new clutch fitted and when the mechanic phoned his supplier they told him that they wouldn't warrant the new clutch without the DMF being replaced at the same time (even thought they are sold seperately and not as one item). He was bemused by this so phoned a different supllier and they told him it that was BS and they warrant the clutch without a new DMF being fitted (their clutch kit is also cheaper) so he's fitting the clutch and will only replace the DMF if it's outside of the normal wear parameters. Anyway I was just wondering if anyone else has come across this 'advice' when having their clutch replaced.

Joey replied to mandychoccy's topic in Trainee member help
I might still have the one I took out of my old galaxy unless I threw it out yesterday. If I do still have it then you can have it for the price of the postage. I'll pm you to let you know. -

Auto Gearbox Fluid Change 2.3 Gal 1997 Help Please
Joey replied to boyzie1963's topic in New Member Introductions
You need touse a Dexron III fluid. I used Comma ATF from my local motor factors and paid £18.99 for 5 litres. Halfords also sell the same stuff but it is £21.99 there. If your doind a simple drain and refill then you need approx 3 litres but I would suggest taking the sump off and changing the filter (VW call it the oil strainer) but you will need 6-7 litres of fluid. you need to bring the tansmission fluid up to temp before draining (you can either use VAG-COM to check the temp or idle the car for about 5-10mins) -
Finally picked up my MkII. I must say that going from a V6 to a diesel isn't as bad as I thought. In fact It feels like it's got more grunt. Here a few pics

Car Stalling And Lossing Power
Joey replied to Marshman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Noit was just with the power loss and stalling. The rev counter may not belinked and could be a dodgy connection to the clocks or the rev counter itself. If it is the rev counter then I have a spare one out of my V6 you can have the cost of postage. -

2.3 Ghia X 98 Intermittent Loss Of Power
Joey replied to swanny1970's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had this problem on my V6 so don't know if the same may work for you. Anyway what I found was that VAG-COM showed the error that there was an intermittent short to gorund for the MAF. When I looked at the earth wire (which sits at the middle rear of the engine, ask someone with TIS to send you a diagram of the earth points) all the protective plastic had chaffed and the bare wire was exosed and had hardened. I just re-cut the wire and wrapped plenty of electrical tape around it has solved the problem. HTH Joey -
Anyone Used Vegatable Oil In There Tdi?
Joey replied to jamesey's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
I don't know about veggieoil but the VW Audigroup were the first to allow bio-diesel to be used in there pd engines made between 1990 and 2004 without affecting the warranty. you can read the article here http://www.biodieselfillingstations.co.uk/approvals.htm -
Jaguar Alloys/tyres On Galaxy?
Joey replied to JohnR's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Even though Ford own and make Jaguar cars, ford alloys wont fit the galaxy as it's a VW. If you are in the market for second hand alloys then you ned some from either a VW oran Audi. -
I took a coupleof months of use before mine came unstuck for good!!! Put up with it for now and it will fix itself (unlike all the other probs galaxy's have)
-
Well you did say it's outside an Irish sports bar :)

On my Mk1 V6 i've got 215/55/16 Linglong L688 bought from www.mytyres.co.uk

When you look at power output it's the torque figure thats important in how powerful the engine is as bhp is a calculation of torque. It's a way of making one engine sound better than the other when they both technically produce the same torque. You can find a detailed explanation here http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/POWER1.htm

If the rear fan speed keeps returning to low then it sounds like the button that turns the fan speed down is sticking. Mine does this occasionaly and i've found that pushing the corner of the button ususaly unsticks it. The pipes running to the rear feed into the rear aux heater which works the rear a/c. There is a diagram of this in TIS but my CD is broke so can't post it to show you.

Rough Running - Weird Problem.
Joey replied to toneinblack's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Check that your MAF plug is in correctly. Mine got disconnected before and sounded rough as hell when idling as if it were only firing on 3 cylinders. You could find someone nearby with VAG-COM to see if any faults havebeen logged -
Apart from these obvious 2 (although I don't think the Alhambra had the 4WD fitted). I meant do the golf and passat etc share the same AG4 gearbox.
-
I've found the answer after many hours trawling through the sight. It seems that the AG4 from a FWD galaxy needs altering to fit and also the rear prop needs removing. Does anybody know what other VAG cars were fitted with the same auto box
-
Could somebody help me please. I need to know if there is a difference in design between the AG4 auto box fitted to FWD Galaxys and the one fitted to the 4x4 or even if it is a different box altogether. I know the 4x4 has the rear drive shaft but is this just a bolt on to the original AG4??

Joey replied to Joey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II

I have the unfortunate pleasure of needing a replacement gearbox after the oil cooler leaked and mixed the coolant and ATF together. What I wanted to know is if the tiptronic auto from a MkII will fit in my car? If anyone has done this then could you also let me know how easy/difficult it was and any helpful hints oyu have Ta in advance PS Apologies for the heading but my spacebar keeps sticking since my son pulled it off the laptop

It all comes down to the new Mental Capacity act. If the persons parents or the doctors could prove that she didn't have the mental capacity to make the decision then they could easily over rule her. Unfortunately it's not very easy to do unless they have a long-standing mental illness or impaired decision making capabilities due to substance misuse and even then it a very fine line to cross.

Sorry to hijack the thread but my rear window has three 'lines' which don't demist. It's not a huge problem as the others compensate after a while but I was wondeing if there was any way of checking these and repairing them? Cheers

Even though the galaxy doesn't have a 2nd gear start option my old rover 600 had one and it's purpose was to stop wheel spin in slippery conditions i.e. snow, ice, gravel etc. I think though that it's because it's a VW box as my mothers polo was an auto and didn't have the 2nd gear start also.
