hi and welcome , when it loses power try switching off engine then restarting , if its slipping into limp mode, this will reset the fault temporarily, re; fault , first check all vacuum hoses that you can get to, for leaks, could also be your maf sensor, but if its under warranty let them sort it :D  snap :D -

if you havn't already done it , yes you need to partially drain the sytem, on the mk1 dsl, its located on the coolant outlet pipe near the head right hand side , has a circlip through the whole assembly holding it in , prise this clip with screwdriver or pull it with pliers, dont drop it ! :27: , ease out the switch  -
hi james, you should have a gauge sensor , and a coolant sensor that links with the ecu , both located on the thermostat housing, the run on fan is controlled by the ecu , from info supplied by the sensor, then you also have a thermal fan switch either on the rad or on 1 of the large hoses from it, hope this helps

hi, its got to be going somewhere, leave it ticking over on a level drive check when hot , as hairline cracks will open and the pressure will force it to come out, caps are common- porous rads- water pump, head gasket, could be any

sounds exactly right - as one day it reved up when i started it - just thought of it as a "one off" Thanks, MJR & MATT have a good play with the sensor wiring first and check all the connections in that area , you never know :) -
well impressed , :D i must of been off i'll that day/year :) :D
-
not up on the chains but on the belt the crankshaft pully can come loose causing a jump, this would cause poor starting and running, eventual breakage of the belt, definatly sounds like timing out tho

like you might accidently trap your kids hand (or wifes tongue :o ) if accidently activating global closing (e.g - popped into shop/petrol station with keys in pocket - global closing activated whilst extracting your wallet :o It sould be noted that the window will if closed from the inside stop when it meets an obstruction and wind down some way - this safety feature is DISABLED when closing the windows from the outside of the car - global closing. IIRC it is also disabled if youy try and close the windows 3 times from the inside as well :D fabulous idea <_< ;) :o
