thank you :lol: thats the sort of reply i was hoping for, i asked, as i was parked next to a mk2 galaxy at work, and TBH there not much i could see different apart from a face lift. IE doors looked the same, wings looked the same apart from different cut outs for the mk2 lights. Im defo thinking of digging deeper into this as i like a good project. lol Plus being an electrician and design engineer i think i can over come most problems im likely to come across. i will keep people posted how things go. As for not liking the mk2 galaxy, i dont like the rear end of it, just something about it im not keen on, i love the front end, plus with the added spliter on it, it looks lovely.

thats ok, but 2 things stop me. Cant afford the 8 grand price tag, and 2 i dont like the overall look of the mk2 galaxy, im looking at taking the good bits of the mk2 and putting them in the nicer looking mk1. :lol:

oh, im loving the help you get on here :lol: so 1st of dont bother as my car will be so old, its more then likely to end up in a museum, and taking the dash out is a rather hard job i take it. shame as my dash looks like it going to have to came out to find my dam water leak as i just cant find where the waters coming in. So i take it no one likes to play with customising there galaxy then. Its all about fun fun fun and trying different things. Anyone can stick a set of wheels and lowering suspension on there car. im more for being different, Hence why im looking at fitting a rs2000 engine into my galaxy, and maybe look at turboing it at a later date.

Was toying with the idea of using some of the mk2 Galaxy parts on my Mk1 galaxy. Whats interchangable??? the sort of things im looking at is. front wings front bumper Bonnet them mod the mk2 headlights in. dash board speedo dials etc. opening rear windows rear door windows, or complete doors. door cards and seats??? thats just a few bits im looking at maybe changing over time, but dont want to do to much cutting about.

i calculated my MPG when i went on hols to devon, it worked out i was getting an average of 27mpg out of my 2.0L, Round town and short trips im down in the low 20`s. which IMO is totaly crap. this is why im looking into a zetec conversion. Ok the gal as heavy motor, but still the zetec alot better of fuel and i recon running either a 1.8 or 20l zetec the MPG should be up in the 30`s then. And all this talk of using BP ultimate or optimax etc etc, its all useless in standard motors, none of the everyday cars are mapped up to take this fuel. Only the high performance cars that are ment to be taking a higher octain fuel benifit from this fuel. its like Jap import cars, there mapped up to take 102 ron fuel, which you can buy over here. so you either use PB ultimate with a octain booster, or you have the car mappe dup for the correct octain fuel.

Well im thinking of a Zetec, better on fuel and i have had zetecs before so know my way around them and know if somethings not working what it is etc etc. Plus i know all the tuning tricks of them :o thats why i wanted to know if the gearbox is a mtx75, as i know all zetecs bolt stright onto that gearbox, so all i wouls need to do is sort out engine mounts which is no proplem. So its a VTX75 gearbox then, so ids this whats fitted in the 2.3 galaxys then??? if so i know for defo that a zetec will fit, as the 2.3 bottom end is a common mod on RS2000`s and there fitted with the MTX75 box. Sorry for all the questions, just wont to be sure before i go engine hunting

Can anyone give me a 100% answer on what gearbox the mk1 2.0l Gal is fitted with??? im thinking its a Ford MTX75 gearbox, but not 100%, its just i got an idea on engine conversion, and need to know 100% what box it is other wise the engine wont bolt to the gearbox. cheers :ph34r:

i have had a seach on the site on starter motor problems, and it seem quite common. i have a problem with my starter on my 2.0l GLX mk1 gal. i know what the problem is, the starter wont fire in every time, its spins fine as you can hear it, but it just dont want to fire out every time, when it does fire out, it starts fine. now i have enquired about a new starter from my local motor factrs, and im told theres 3 typres of starter for my engine. How can i tell what type i got??? or have i got to take the starter completly off??? cheers

i got the same problem in mine ;) its like splashing in puddles when you get in and on both sides. where are the scuttle drain holes??? i need to check if there blocked. its a nightmare tho, i had all the carpet up and used are VaX`s for now, filled up half of one of them, but the soundproofing is starting to smell as well. :o

i use tomtom on my phone as well. does me ok. only use it when in a strange area just in case. Ok its not 100% but it has got me out of a ticket a few times. And someone said about the tomtom flagging up cameras when theres not any there, mine does this, but its flagging them up as its a hot spot of the mobile cameras. i have been past a few places i know the police use regular for speed traps, and it picks them up every time if their there or not. and people who moan about speed, come on. you cant say you never creep over the limit. a perfect example here, which would catch anyone with out a camera detector out.... on the A303 going towards exeter, theres a bit of single carrageway where it splits into dual up a steep hill for a short time, now the limit is 50mph, and you have been stuck behind a truck thats been doing 30mph as its heavly loaded, heres your chance to over take, you drop it a gear as its a steep hill, you hit over the 50 limit overtaking, and flash flash, your caught, as theres a camera halfway up the hill. now you got your 3 points a nice fine coming your way, or if you got your camera device, your safe.

Well had it all apart at the weekend, took the suspect hose off, and the big chunk that was taken out of it, had not gone right through, so its not leaking. so im back to square one now. i had a look at the alternator, but cant see this plug your on about. And looked at the I.C.V. but how the hell do you get it off??? any tips??

If you go for a PS2 get the slimline, don't need an inverter as it uses 8.5volts. So then you wont have a problem with the rating. I haven't got one, :D Just used a 12V adapter lead with the transformer. if i didn`t already have one, i wuld for defo mate. but i got a silver HUGE.(lol) PS2, so need the 240v adaptor :lol: , and i dont seem to use it at home, so may get more use out of it in the car.

cheers for that, and cheers for the link bagpuss. only thing on the link post i dont get, it says about them being fused sepratly. mine defo aren`t, as i had nothing on both, put the fuse in, and both powered up fine. but 15amp fuses seem to be used then, so may go for one of them when i get the PS2 fited. cheers

not sure if there on all mk1 galaxys, but i got 2 12v socket in the boot. cant find anywhere in haynes manual about them. i managed to get them working last night, someone had taken the fuse out, but what i wanted to know, was what amp`s can these take?? at the more i have a 3amp fuse in there, and its running my TV/ DVD player no probs, but wanted to know if i can run an inverter off them to run my PS2. cheers

well had a look tonight, and i have a hole in the hose from the maf to throttle body, so hopefully this is giving me my problems

looks a very nice MR2 mate. <_< was the engine standard?

shes one of the first full factory fit 90 spec cars. i think its got every 90 spec extra on it, front bumper, rear spoiler, rear interior light, different charge carrier, trip computer, 90 spec seats, 6 speed wiper.
