I would take the handle off completely its only held on by on star key,then im sure you would be able to get it out

Hi thanks ill check that aswell,its starting to get annoying now done a search on here and cant find anyone who has had the same problem,the sound almost sounds like something is spininng but when it is its catching on something,sounds very hollow and almost tingly i have looked over all the car and it seems worse when you are either inside the car at the side of it or underneath? The only things i can find is the drive belt tensioner is vibrating(heard they are a common fault) and the turbo makes a wooshing noise as though its leaking but i think this is normal unless any one can tell me different its very loud wen ure in the car? colud it be the tensioner?? GETTING DESPERATE NOW LOL!!

thanks ill have a go tomorrow,but it seems the faster the engine is running the faster the tap is like i said seems t be worse inside the car and if you stand at the side,could it be a tensioner noise?as i have noticed that the drive belt tenioner is vibrating a lot p.s wats dmf,and is there anywhere on this site that tells you how to replace tappets many thanks.

Right done a bit more investigating,i took rocker cover off didnt really no wat i was looking at but i couldnt see anything broken or worn? The noise seems to be worse when you stand at the side of the car or get underneath,almost seems as though its coming from the back of the engine or bottom?Its like a tapping noise but has a hollow sound to it,you the the sound u get when something is loose and vibrating,but deff not anything loose the tap still there but just trying to explain what sort of noise it is(but not doing very well lol)

ok,do you haveto take the cam belt off?

It does'nt go when you press the clutch in,ill have a listen to the pump,any more ideas?all welcome

Thanks for the advice ill have a look,it also seems louder when uree inside the car?it gets faster the more you rev up the engine?

Hi i have just bought a r reg galaxy tdi and its great except for one thing!!There is a tapping noise oon tickoover and when ure driving i thought it could be a noisy tappet,but it seems louder when you go underneaath the car,when your at the front of the car u can still hear it but not as loud,can anyone help me?the noise is sort of like a tapping tingly noise almost sounds hollow?PLEASE HELP!!! The cause of the misfire was down to the air flow metre not woirkin,and as for the water loss im thinking its because the fan does not come on,it doesnot loose loads of water just a bit

no white sludge in the oil at all

Hi just bought a cheap galaxy on a n reg just got a few problems with it and needed some advice 1.When u first start it up sounds like its misfiring but then ok,but u can only rev it up to about 5k wont go anymore,the bloke put new leads plugs on etc and tried second hand coil pack but still does it 2.looses water but cant see no water leaks

Yes if i stop then fan cuts in and temp goes down,when i was on motorway i put heaters on and it did help alot,noticed the belt is a bit squeaky could this be affecting it at all?

Hi i have a 2.0 galaxy and if i take it on the motorway the temp guage goes into the red?but if u drive it round town its fine?any ideas?

Hi i need to fit a new reverse light switch on a v6 galaxy where is it?and could it be switch as they dont work changed bulbs etc,is it easier to get to it underneath?

Hi some friends of mine have just bought a n reg galaxy 2.8 v6 and i just wanna ask a few questions 1.It has done 145,000 miles is this high? 2.when you put it under load its very hestitant wat could this be? 3.is there an easy way of getting to the sark plugs at the back of the engine? thanks onslow.

think i have u it down to a seized engine as if i roll down a hill backwards then it just locks up!!should i try forwards??now wat i need to no is how do i get the head off?i am quite mechanically miinded so no some stuffi have taken the rocker cover off,do i take the cams out?disconect the change etc etc,any help would be much apreciated.

I have been reading up on these sezied engines and have seen that people take the spark plugs out and pour coke down there leave for a while then try rocking it in gear??would this be worth a try or maybe oil??also if it was seized would it do any harm trying to unseize it by towing it and puting it in gear??

Was thinking that if the engine had seized then would there be no oil in engine??i say this because the dipsticl level is ok as it should be??the person who had this before me said oil light used to come on before but just flicker so he never thought it was nothing could he have damaged the engine??

The spare one had been sitting in my garden so maybe no good?but it did light up indicators etc,the noise was deff knocking but i imeediately stopped,but saying that the other day the engine was taping a bit i checked oil level it was ok and oil light did not turn on i just hope its not a seized engine!!!!

I have recently bought a p reg galaxy it has only done 88,000 miles with full ford history,i was driving it today along the motorway when all off a sudden thw oil light started to flash?i imediately pulled over as it was making a knocking noise?i turned the car off went to restart it and it seemed as though the battery was flat?so i got towed home i had very dim indicators and no e/w so was deff flat battery.I had a spare at home so i chucked it on but all it does now is click?HAS THE ENGINE SEIZED!!i am charging the original one now see wat happens in the morning but think engine is gone,but seems weird for it to go just like that?i cant turn the bottom puley with a spanner but i cant get under there properly so maybe just me,all im asking is how do i tell if engine is seized and what do i do now??oh forgot to add its a 2 litre dohc,i been told the mondeos have same engine??like i say all it does no is click as though battery is flat sometimes clicks more than once sometimes just once??

I am very very happy i owned a seat alhambra b4 the galaxy and that was rubbish compared to the galaxy!! :wub:
