  1. Hi Some nice bar steward nudged my rear bumper while the car was parked and pushed it in on the left side and put a green stripe along the length. There is no external damage to the bumper and the paint will tee cut out. Only problem is that the left side was unclipped and hanging down. I pushed it in at the side but it still seems loose at the side and there is a slight gap between bumper and body. I've read the post on how to remove the rear bumper but before I could anyone tell me if there any replaceable clips or is it likely my bumper is scrap. It has a detachable towbar fitted and I think some brackets have to be removed to fit that. Can anyone confirm? Andy Met
  2. Hi Would really appreciate any help on this. The resistor pack that came off the car had a green socket on it and the new one supplied by ford was a blue one. Does anyone know if they are definately the same? Thanks Andy Met
  3. Hi Front heater fan stopped working on speeds one and two so I replaced the reister pack as sugested in numerous posts. Now I have nothing on speed one, speed two apears to be speed one and three and four are ok. The aircon will switch on when the fan is set at speed one (but fan doesn't work and goes off on two three and four. Sometimes if you have the temp set at 12 o'clock and stop the engine, when you restart it you get full heat. I am suspecting that the heater control switch assembly is faulty, any advice please? Car is a 2003 1.9tdi 115bhp zetec. Thanks for any help Andy Met
  4. Hi Check the vacuum pipe between the brake servo and the vacuum pump. it will probably be cracked at the take off point at the back of the engine on the battery side. Costs about
  5. Hi Got the dreaded problem with the alternator pulley seized. I've got a new pulley and the seeley tool, but the tensioner on my Mk2 tdi is different from my mk 1. Whats the best way to grip the tensioner to move it so I can get the belt off? Thanks in advance for your help. Andy Met
  6. Hi Possible a crack in the hard plastic vacuum pipe between the servo and the vacuum pump. Check the connections where it goes into the none return valve (situated at the back of the engine 6" to the left of the fuel filter). If the hard plastic pipe slides off it is cracked, a tempory repair is to wrap amalgamating tape around both sides(Availble from maplins) until you have time to change it Andy Met
  7. Hi Just had cruise control retro fitted to my mk2 tdi by a company called Hazzy Dayz Ltd. Cannot recomend these guys highly enough, they are london based and you can either take your car to them and have it fitted for
  8. Hi Quickest way to do it is get a torx screw driver bit on a long extension. Unscrew the top two screws holding the headlight on then if you use a torch you will see one at bottom of the headlight. Just loosen this and the the headlight will slide out. Change the bulb and refit headlight, takes about 5 minutes. Hope this helps Andy Met
  9. Hi Sniper Locate the none return valve and see if the pipe slips on and off it. If it does it is definately cracked. A new vacuum pump is
  10. Hi Just an update on this one. Fitted the new pipe today and sure enough the pipe was cracked where it goes into the none return valve (both sides gone) Fitting the new one resuted in a flat nose as when I got to the end of the street on the test drive and applied the brakes, I nearly went through the screen. Just shows how you don't spot deteriation over a period of time. For a quick tempory fix you could wrap rubber amalagmating tape around the pipe, the none return valve is situated about 6" to the left of the fuel filter, it has two take offs coming out, one with a tube and one blanked off. Ford part number for a mk2 diesel vacuum pipe is 1357764 Andy met

  14. Hi My brakes are quite hard at low revs (mk 2 diesel galaxy 115bhp) and from a search it looks like it could be a split in the vacuum pipebetween the pump and the srevo. Stupid question, can anyone advise where the vacuum pump is and also the servo? had a quick look with a torch and found a plastic dome on the front of the engine with a vacuum pipe going to behind the air filter near the fluid reservoir but don't think this is it. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Andy Met
  15. Hi Do a search for rear wheel bearing replacement and you will find my post. My way means no removal of the swinging arm and no ned to use a press hope this helps Andy Met
  16. Hi I bought my Mk 2 1.9tdi with 28500 miles on it and it had just been serviced. The 2000 mile reminder came on at 36500 and I serviced it at 40000 and reset it. 2000 mile reminder came on at 46500 miles and was reset at 50000. The 2000 mile reminder has just come on 56500 again. So my question is, when you reset it using the "hold the trip button and turn the ignition on " trick, does this just turn the service indicator off but not take into account the milage it is reset at? If so is there any way to rest it so it is current milage related without the dealer doing it? Thanks Andy Met

  20. Hi If your last clutch was fitted at a ford garage they will do it for free as the new clutch will have a years guarantee on it, provided it is'nt the friction plate that is worn to the rivets. Hope this helps Andy Met

  22. Hi Just bought elaswin off e-bay and it is brilliant. Only problem is I have a 2003 115bhp tdi galaxy with 6 speed manual gearbox and this is for a Sharan. When you fire it up you have to put in the engine code (mine is AUY1) and the transmission code which I'm struggling to find. Any of you guys using elaswin can help me out? Thanks Andy Met
