Hi Finally got around to checking why my Aux heater doesn't work and Vag com can't find it. Found that both clips on the heater that hold the plug in had broken and the plug had come out. Tried just plugging back in and securing with a tie wrap but the plug having been exposed to the elements all winter was badly corroded. Does anyone know if you you can buy the plug and lead and if so where abouts does it plug into the main loom? Any help much appreciated. Andy Met

Stupid Side Lights
andymet replied to Pineappleman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Remove the headlight assembly, fir the lamps then refit the assembly - 4 torx screws and a connector - so much easier then using the silly flaps that arn't big enough! Just make sure you mark the beam on a wall or garage door first though so you have a reference point when refitting. Much quicker way. Get a 3/4" wide wood chisel. Shine a torch through the little trap door and locate the chisel in the centre groove on the plastic bulb holder. Unscrew anti clockwise then remove the chisel and put you hand in and remove the bulb holder.Reverse to refit. This way takes less the 2 minutes to chenge the bulb. Hope this helps Andy Met -
Inner Cv Joint Gaitor Problems
andymet replied to Big Bad Al's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi I had the same problem when doing mine. If you undo the two allen screws then get some one to use a lever and put some tension on it pushing it down. While they are doing this get a small sharp chisel and locate it on the join line you are trying to separate. A sharp tap with a hammer and it will spring apart.Hope this helps Andy Met -

Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement
andymet replied to Shabazmo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi I did a post about 5 years ago detailing how to do it, You should find it in the search. You can use the old nut and bolt and the spacer discs to pull the bearing back into the housing, then its just a case of fitting the circlip and using a soft mallet to gently tap the hub in. You may need to use the bolt and spacers and some packing to pull the bearing to the front of the housing when removing it as it can be difficult to get moving at first with the slide hammer.Hope this helps, Andy Met -
Hi The parking sensor control module on my Galaxy has an internal memory fault. (Checked with VAG Com) Does anyone Know anywhere that repairs these units. It seems crazy to have to pay over
-
Hi Thanks for the suggestions, I've checked all three fuses and they are ok. Vag com says no response from the controller. Now need to check the multi plug. How easy is it to get to? Many thanks for the help so far. Andy Met

Vibration On Acceleration
andymet replied to andymet's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Just bring this to the top, any advice would be appreciated. -
Hi Car is a 2003 1.9tdi 115 BHP. When acceletating especially with the caravan on I get a vibration mainly bad in second gear. From the searches I've discovered it is probably a drive shaft or the DMF. Checking the drive shaft for play, on the drivers side outer one, there doesn't seem to be any rotational play but longitudinally there is about a quater of an inch. Can someone please confirm if this is knackered? Milage is 126,000. Thanks for any help Andy Met

Hi I phoned up Ford to price a new module it was

Hi Think I know the answer to this one but would like one of you experts to confirm it please. Started with the long beep and the flashing of the parking sensor switch which would clear after a few minutes. Then a couple of days ago all I get is the beep and flashing switch but no parking sensors. Tried my new Vag com lead (another question to follow!!) and it came up with error code 65535 which is a memory fault in the module. Am I correct in thinking a new module will cure the problem? There is no water down there so I'm asuming the module is faulty. Vag com question, I bought a lead of e-bay and it came with shareware software. Is it worth registering for the extra features and if so how much does it cost? Last question, I found a post with information on where to get a new parking sensor module cheap but can't find it now, anyone know a cheap source? Many thanks Andy Met

Hi Brilliant start to the new year, coming home last night and at a junction, could not engage first. After messing about found that reverse is now where first is, so can get all gears apart from 6th and fifth is touch and go. Looking on the search it doesent seem like either of the balls have popped of so suspecting a semi snapped cable or fault on the linkage. Anyone else had this problem? Any help appreciated Andy met Happy new year by the way!

Hi My mate had the same problem on a mk2 Galaxy 115bhp going into limp mode when under load ie with the caravan on. He took the following systematic aproach to fix it after the dealer failed. 1 Read the error code generated which was low boost pressure. 2 Checked the vacuum pipes to EGR valve and to the turbo. OK 3 Changed the T Map sensor for a known working one. Still not cured. 4 Took the EGR valve off, was full of crap and not sealing, cleaned it, still not cured. 5 Check the turbo actuator, found it sticking, when the turbo was removed he found a build up of rust on the actuator preventing full movement. You could move the actuator by hand through the resistance but there was not enough power to overcome it with just vacuum. 6 Cleaned the turbo as per instructions on one of the posts and problem solved. He took this approach to fix it starting with the easiest/cheapest options first, it could have been any of them causing it he was just unlucky it was the last two most difficult items that were causing it. Hope this helps. Andy Met

Kwik fit is a bit of a con as they will tell you it needs new discs as well so you getthe pads free but have to pay for the discs.

Thanks for you help Big Kev. I checked the new resistor pack and sure enough it was different. I contacted ford who supplied it, and the service manager confirmed I had been given the wrong part and ordered the correct one straight away. Now fitted and all is well So if anyone is changing there resistor pack in the future, the one with the green socket ( correct one for my 2003 TDI) part number is 1104837 and the one with the blue socket which fits god knows what is 1033917.
