But it's good to broaden our horizons a bit, no? very true but isnt owning and driveing a french car up in the list of things you dont try or do before you die?......... 1.folk dancing 2.incest 3.owning or driveing a renault/citroen car 4.seeing your parents naked 5.peeing on an electric fence  Although points 1 and 2 are how ever acceptable behaivour in several US States where you can marry livestock, the family pet or a fellow family members of the same gender! mind you I would willingly and publicly partake in points 1 and 5 before doing 3  Following Bush's (re)election, I understand that 1. and 2. are now compulsory in several US states. I'm not going to tell you how many of your list I've tried, but I can tell you that 3. has been the most expensive and the most fun, and is the only one which I still do.

I'm sure that it's worth persevering; it's a psychological problem not a real one. The turning circle is a bit big, but the power steering is good and the footprint isn't particularly large (I think it's smaller in one direction than my previous Volvo estate). My old lady has no problem parking it. What about a couple of lessons with a decent driving school on parking? I don't know about your relationship, but I'm absolutely certain that mine would not withstand me trying to teach my wife to park (she's a better parker than I am anyway) or to do anything else, for that matter.

I really don't think that Galaxy owners are in a position to tick off anyone about the appearance of their car (except perhaps Proton drivers). You'd be hard pushed to find a more boring, anodyne, uninspiring and insipid design than the Galaxy, inside and out. Ford have in the past come up with some interesting designs (like them or not), but I suppose that the need to keep three car companies happy has reulted in the lowest common denominator design that is the Galaxy.

Seating Positions When Travelling

There's a button top right of each entry marked '"Quote' - click on it and Bob's your uncle. You can edit quotes if you wish. -
As MM suggests I meant that by implying that your motive is to help others, you make it more difficult for a moderator to tell you that you can't do it. You could have asked the neutral question 'Am I allowed to offer goods for sale on the forum?'. FWIW I couldn't care less whether you do or not, so long as the forum doesn't become a small ads board (which was obviously not your intention).

Seating Positions When Travelling

Doesn't that mean that the anchor point (by which I mean the thing into which the belt clips) will be on the wrong side? Anyway, it sounds as if it doesn't matter if Mr Marauder is right. -

In the front, it won't be possible to use the seat belt if you swivel the passenger seat, will it? Not that it's any of my business, but why do you want to drive with the seats facing backwards? -
It is reassuring to know that there are public spirited chaps like you out there who know how we should all be driving and go out of your way to ensure that we live up to your standards.

Don't point that question at me, it's loaded.

Bet they give a 10% loss of grip too! :( Mike Interesting thought. Would the easiest way to achieve better fuel con and reduce tyre wear be to make the tyres less grippy? Sounds possible. With traction control, ABS and so on, who needs grippy tyres anyway? Craaaaaasssshhhh

I have a V6 so the expression 'fuel economy' has no meaning for me. The Galaxy is the first car I've had with a trip computer and I notice that fuel consumption is very dependent indeed on speed. On the m'way at a steady low 80s mph, it's OK, high 20s mpg ish. Above 85 mph, it plummets to low 20s mpg ish; at that point I switch the display to 'average speed'. I wonder if the large discrepancies between reported mpgs of all you consumption conscious diesel drivers are due in part to fairly small differences in driving styles.

Any Paint Experts? Need Some Advice
Richmond replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
On the original question, I wouldn't worry about why the paint job is nbg. Tell them you're entitled to a proper job and that, one way or another, they have to do one even if it means respraying the whole thing (I was always led to believe if you wanted a respray to look really good, it had to be complete). By now, they're probably wishing that they had. The explanations, true or not, of why the new paint looks different to the old are interesting but irrelevant to your situation. -
FWIW, I have a kind of tent thing for the dog whch attaches to any convenient anchoring points in the car (it also has pegs so that he can have a little tent outside if we go to the beach or on a pic nic - aaahhhh :P ). It works well for long journeys, the animal seems to like it. For short trips, we use one of those things which clips to the dog's collar and plugs into the fixed side of a seatbelt. Neither are much use if you have 5 mastiffs, I suspect, but for more modest canine numbers (1 labrador for example) they seem to be a good wheeze.

Isn't the point of a bumper to take bumps and so protect the rest of the car? Where will it all end? If you have a bumper protector, what's going to protect that? The car'll be longer than an artic.
-
No, it's not, but something like the Galaxy is never going to be a quiet vehicle. It's shifting a lot of air out of the way, and it's bound to make a bit of a row as it passes.

The wing mirrors on mine are an all in one job; housing and mounting braket and glass.

This has come up before on the forum. Some versions have the light functioning, some, like mine, don't. Apparently all the necessary gubbins is there on all versions, and with access to the diagnostics, one can activate it; God knows why it isn't activated on all cars fitted with cruise control.

FWIW, I had a coil failure earlier this year. I drove a fair old distance (700 miles) like that, with the engine warning light flashing and occasionally coming on for a few seconds when pulling away from stationary. I was woried that the cat might have been damaged, but the car has just passed it's MOT with the emssions at a fraction of the permitted max (it appears not to burning anything at all, but the fuel consumption tells a diffferent story).

This thread was originally about spruce green. I was in a dealers yesterday (MOT) and whiled away a few a seonds looking at a Galaxy in the showroom. It was described as spruce green but was as silver as a silver thing under silvery light on a very silvery day. There was no green in it whatsoever. In other words, it was silver, as far as I could tell the same silver as mine (which could be called spruce green for all I know). Just thought I'd mention it.

For the avoidance of doubt, I have not suggested that copyright laws should be respected. I just thought that you might want to know what they are. If you're going to break the law, you might as well know what it is. -
If you 'phone Ford's customer care line, they'll fax you a template. They're a complete pain in the arse. There are 4 separate bits, 2 on each side. I made mine out of metallic sticky tape. 30 secs later ... I've just noticed that you're already in France. Lucky you.
