Will a duff run on pump throw up fault codes on vcds? -
What Does The Wgr Mean?

Right, seems like WGR just relates to the mk1 and mk2 Galaxy. Nothing to do with engine etc. -
What Does The Wgr Mean?
chrislloydie replied to chrislloydie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Even googling doesn't give any answers. -
Im searching for a part, a roll restrictor bar ( engine mount ) to be exact. I have a 115 auy auto. But a lot of the parts refer to wgr. So what does the wgr stand for? Ive spent ages searching on here but wgr is too short for the search function.

Lower Engine Stabilizer
chrislloydie replied to chrislloydie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Its the rear bush I need as thats the one that is allowing about an inch of movement. This in turn becomes even more movement when it transfers to the engine. Ive only found one person selling the rear bushes for -
Lower Engine Stabilizer
chrislloydie replied to chrislloydie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Anyone know how much movement there should be in the stabilizer bush? -
Noticed an occasional odd rubbing, low chirping noise from the engine when braking sharply. Investigated today and found that when the engine is under load, it moves a fair bit, when you come off the throttle and the engine swings back, it makes the rubbing chirping noise. I checked the stabilizer bolt and its still intact. But the large rubber bush in the end of the stabilzer mount, allowed considerable movement. About an inch of play. This allows the engine to move a fair bit. However, a new stabilizer bar is about

Whooshing Noise And Oil
chrislloydie replied to chrislloydie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Turned out to be a hole in the middle section of the exhaust. It had rusted through where the exhaust hanger is welded on just in front of the centre silencer box. The oil appears to have come from around the filler cap area. I changed the oil a few weeks ago and did spill a fair amount into the rubber lip bit around the filler. -
Vcds And Auxiliary Heater

What noise is normal for the pump and what noise does a failing pump make then? -
Been getting a fairly loud whooshing / air escaping noise under acceleration. Can really hear it with either of the front windows open. Power seems ok, possibly slightly down though. Also noticed a fair amount of oily residue at the top rear of the engine, behind the egr area. Im guessing the 2 are probably linked. Any tips as to what might be the problem? Im off work Friday so plan to investigate then, but its hard to as the whooshing noise only happens when moving, not revving when stationary.

Vcds And Auxiliary Heater
chrislloydie replied to chrislloydie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Funnily enough, since the booster heater has been working again, ive noticed a noise has appeared seemingly behind the dash. It was definitely never there before. -
Vcds And Auxiliary Heater

Got a phone call from the mrs this morning. Apparently, the booster heating fired up, smelt a bit funny but hardly any smoke. And car heated up nice and quickly. Ive not been able to test it for myself yet, but fingers crossed it might be ok. Might take it apart and give it a clean out anyway. -
Vcds And Auxiliary Heater

So if it turns out to be a smoke machine, what else could be the problem if not glow plug? -

But wouldn't it be smokey cos the glow plug is duff. And wouldn't the vcds show a fault? -
Glow Plug Query
chrislloydie replied to chrislloydie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Exactly mate. Ill be a bit more cautious when ordering parts next time. -
Finally set up my vcds lite this evening. Took a bit of messing around with the latency settings but finally got a good reading with latency set at 4. Tried to connect to the auxilliary heater but it wouldnt connect. After a bit of searching I read that if the fuse has been removed then vcds will not cinnect to aux heater. Sure enough my fuse no. 12 was missing. I replaced it with a new one and was then able to connect to the aux heater. No fault codes found. However, im a bit dubious as ti why the previous owner has removed the fuse. So I now need to wait til the weather drops so I can see if the unit fires up. Spent ages scanning rest if car. Only fault was engine temp sensor but I know thats dodgy anyway as occasionally the temp will drop to 0 and then shoit straight back up to temp after a minute or so. So all in all quite happy. Now just to find out whats causing the whooshing noise from engine bay upon hard acceleration.

Assuming chassis number and vin number are the same thing? If so, mine doesnt seem to relate to any of the chassis numbers on the glow plugs. -
