  1. Bearings and drive shafts replaced still a f**king rattle. Drop links replaced, ball joints replaced now drive shafts and bearings. Don't know wot to do next?? Going to remove the bottom cover to see any ideas??
  2. Just order a pair from J&R as I am sick of the rattle in my sharan. Yesterday there came a loud grinding noise when above 25 mph getting louder as I speed up. Going to get 2 wheel bearings as well get them replaced at same time. Nearly 100k miles on car so probably these parts r failing or have failed.
  3. Thanks for all replies. I took door card off Saturday too same as smartycar and inside the door was damp but no water lying the only thing I did notice was as I got the wiring loom replaced the car electrics person who did it did not put the loom back into its clips so I did this and I found a black plastic thingy lying at bottom of door so I just took it out. I sealed all round the door seal with silicone and tried to dry out the carpet as best I could so will look later to see if any further water has got in. Another issue the passengers electric window has now stopped working. When i press either button on either door it just makes a buzzing noise. I have checked the wires in the door and no breaks any ideas??
  4. How dd you put the silicone around the seals? Did you first apply it to the car body then press the rubber seal on to it? How did you dry out the footwell? Did you cut the carpet out or just pull it back lift the sponge and dry it that way. Thanks for your reply by the way.
  5. Just contact the VW Stealer bout a new door seal.
  6. As I said previous the door rubber seal was removed when I had the wiring loom replaced by the car electrics person. Can this cause the leak??
  7. Thanks everyone for replies. Will look for the drain holes during the day. If I have to remove carpet and sponge underneath is this easy? Does it have to be glued down again? How is it done?? Will also check the windscreen. Out of interest when replacing the plastic tray b4 putting wipers back on does the edges sit under the windscreen rubber or on top of it??
  8. Where would I find the drain holes insanity beard? Will the inside door card need removing to get to them? I also closed the door and run water via a hose all round the door yesterday and when I opens the door on the outer part of the door seal on the sill water was running down. Would this cause water to leak into car? Thanks for your response.
  9. Anyone any ideas please!!
  10. Footwell is a complete puddle at min!! I put hose in the area where scuttles are and water running out under wheel arches both sides. It appears water coming in round bottom of door as carpet behind pedals is dry as a bone. Could the rubber door seal be an issue here?
  11. I have done that and even removed the wipers and tray but no water sitting at all!!
  12. Can't find scuttles??? How do I get to them?
  13. Update. All interior lights now working another thread on here said check fuse 53 & 55. As they were hard to get to I never checked fuse 53 and when I did happy days it was blown. Replaced and lights on. Took off sill at driver door and notice it wet on the inside of the door seal so I think the water could be running down the sill some where may need to replace the seal??
  14. Hi I have a 2005 VW Sharan and the drivers footwell is completely soaked. I have checked under the wipers and even took wipers off and tray out its a bit wet but no puddles. Can find where the drains are anyone know?? The footwell is soaked at bottom but under the pedals is dry. A couple of months ago I got the drivers door wiring loom replaced and the runner seal on the door was removed could this have broke a seal? It is very dry at the door though. Could water run under the plastic covering at door sill?? I have also the airbag light on the dash now which I think may be coming from the wet footwell as the sponge material under the drivers seat is soaking as well. Another issue I have is all my interior lights have stopped working. I was replacing a bulb in the middle area if the car when I heard a noise like a fuse blowing in the front but all fuses look ok and I have replaced the fuse for the interior lights anyway but still no joy. Is there a relay that could have blown?? Any ideas on any of my problem would be much appreciated. It's true when they say it never rains but pours!! Thank you
  15. Do you have a link for the door lock repair kits?
  16. Took the inside panel off door quickly last night but I think i need to spend a wee bit more time to have a look. Just have to put up with locking the door from passenger side for now. Thanks for the advice.
  17. Until today I could lock my VW Sharan 2005 with the key in the drivers door and pressing the button. The central locking did not work with the key it just locked the drivers door. Today the drivers door was very hard to open with the key and my key got stuck so I forced it round to get he key out now my drivers door when the key is in just turns very easy both clockwise and anticlockwise and does not lock the drivers door. I have to get out of car go round to passenger side open passenger door pressed the button on the key to lock the other 3 doors, boot etc then get into car manually lock the drivers doors then close passenger door. Anyone any ideas what the issue could be? yes wires have broke in the pillar but I have them joined but cant even lock drivers door with key.
  18. Does anyone know the wires that are contained in the door gaiter?
  19. BrianH thanks for the detailed reply. I do think its the wiring from pillar to door that's causing the problems. Where can I get the pieces of wire I need don't want to buy loads of the stuff when I don't need it? Have u replaced the rubber gaiter between door and pillar if so where did u get a replacement?
  20. More of a disaster this morning apart from the frost the car is now doing more funny things!! Right, the front electric windows will not go down at all now the door mirrors do not work but the button to lock the central locking locks all doors except drivers. The funniest thing of all is when I am driving over speed ramps the hazard lights flash twice repeatedly. I bet some drivers got a good laugh this morning following me??? When I pressed the button on the key to lock the car the led came on flashing but still had to lock the drivers door. Does it still sound like the wiring loom from pillar to door?? I am finding it hard to get at the wiring loom I have connected wires which have broke buy others insulation is cracked. I just put a terminal block connected a piece of cable then connected another terminal block to connect the wires up again. Do I need to get the correct size of cable? Also would anyone have the drivers wiring loom diagram or do the wires just corresspond with the same colour when broke? Please help its getting very annoying.
  21. Tried eBay none there. Will try breakers. Any ideas about the funny problems?
  22. Car this morning now doing funny things. When I press the drivers window button the window does not only go down but also the hazard lights flash 3 times. When I press the button for the back window demister it works ok but the hazard lights flash 3 times again. Central locking still not working on drivers door as well. Would it be the case that more wires have broken? Wires touching wires? Anything else? Also, can anyone tell me where I can order a rubber gaiter as the one on the drivers door loom is split?
  23. Just now got out of car pressed the key to lock it and drivers door does not lock had to lock it with key. Everything else windows, wing mirrors are working ok just the locking. The led does not blink when I lock it with the key. Any ideas??
  24. Got it fixed. The door pillar has a lung which the wiring has to sit in. This allows the connection to sit out that wee bit so I could attached the holding ring, very fiddley but got there in the end. The connection from the door just slipped back in and screwed clockwise. So all working again. It's a wonder car manufactures wouldn't make the wires between pillar and door more flexible!!
