Untill today my remote locking has worked ok ,even though its the early line of sight remote, today it has stopped suddenly , I think the key battery in the key is ok because it hasnt got proggressivly worse it has just stopped working at all , if i go through the key proggramming set up the key flashes as it should but I cant get the led on the door into proggramming mode , How do i prove it is the unit in the car that has gone faulty and where is it ????? also is the unit that controls the signal from the remote key integrated into the central locking control unit or are they seperate????? Or do i just get an alarm and use that remote control ?????

Making Car Locking More Visible
tomy replied to tomy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
My indicators dont flash and i havent got vag com , A small piezo might be a good idea but I might get a compatible alarm because the remote key on my car has a very poor range as its inrfra red  -
I have a mki with infra red central locking , which isnt brilliant and i am never sure if the locking has activated or not without checking a door , I want to add either a compatible alarm or something that flashes the indicators to let you know that the cenral locking is being opened or closed , Any one addded an alarm or similar also it might improve the range of my remote locking of the car because the infra red system has a very poor range as it is "line of sight" activated.

Ive just fitted a towbar to my mk1 galaxy and it came with an" intelligent relay" for the 12 s socket the wiring to it is a main permanant 12v+ supply (30amp) which was prewired in my car to the rear multiplug for the towbar it has a permanent 12v- earth then it has 3 wires off it to the 12s socket one is permanent live for the caravan internal lights , one is to the fridge and one to charge the caravan battery, these last two become live when the engine is running, due to the power surge from the alternator telling the relay that the car is now running so this relay has no swiching wire to activate it . Saved me the time and hassle running an extra wire from front to back to operate it.

I get a lot of shocks from our car , the missus and the kids never seem to get them though , Maybe i'm more conductive than them

Although I have no problem selecting gears , maybe first and reverse are hard when the engine is cold, there seems to be a lot of play in neutral from side to side as if it is worn , is there an easy fix to replace the worn parts in the gear selector part or will it be inside the gearbox ????? :(

My radio code was in all the ford stuff in my glovebox when I bought mine . -
We would like to look at that link but it doesnt work or have frauds sabotaged it

How about checking with a multimeter if there is any current being drawn by the car , the battery might be ok but if it has a constant drain it will go flat , you need to connect a multimeter on the amps range to check it with it in series with the battery

Yeah the black one does the brake lights and the blue one is knackered and I assume that is the one causing the em light to come on . -
Brake Light Swich And Em Light
tomy replied to tomy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have been in the car today and I have two switches one black one blue , the black one does the brake lights and works ok but the blue one looks as if someone has had it apart before and that one tests closed circuit all the time so it looks like that one is knackered. -
Occasionally my em light flashes , I had the car read at my local garage and he said it was an intermittent fault on the brake light switch , Are there two brake light switches one for the brake lights and one for the cruise control even though it hasnt got cruise control, which switch is going to be the culprit that needs replacing ??? The flashing light is so annoying !!!!!!!

The radio I have used is the original ford one now I have a sony one and that is the same the front dash speakers both work and looking at the tis cd they are fed via the same feed so I am thinking there must be a wiring connector under the dash somewhere.

Engine Bay Fuses And Relays
tomy replied to rushy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I worked on an escort fusebox last year and depending on the model it had relays in some slots and some of these metal links in other slots where a relay whould have fitted on the escorts it just depended on the model of the car as to weater it was a relay or a link so its probably the same on most fuseboxs . -
It has all seven seats unless they were added after !!!
