  1. It could even be mall adjustment of the belt. But without seeing it its difficult to diagnose. Hope I have pointed you in the right direction. Regards Bob Hill
  2. This type of noise is usually associated with the alternator being put under a heavier load than is normal. This is due to the battery requesting more output from the alternator, which puts pressure on the drivebelt which then slips for a short period while the battery regains its full charge. This happens usually after the starter motor has been used to start the car. Other things that cause high drain on the battery are heated screens. In this cold weather maybe having the front and rear screen heaters on while starting is another thing that will put a large drain on the system. Bob Hill
  3. I think the aerial is in the rear screen, if this is true I would be looking at the wiring on the tailgate which causes loads of bother reading through the posting on our forum. Regards Bob Hill
  4. With this sort of prblem it may be best left to the specialists. As it scares the hell out of us mere mortals. I also have a Merc C200 with a similar problem, I dread how much this will cost to rectify. Regards Bob Hill
  5. Ask the seatkid he seems to know it all bh
  6. You mean undo each injector nut in turn whilst cranking and tighten up once fuel starts to come through. Sure thing. By the sound of it you seem to have found the problem. Usually you only have to do one injecter to get the fuel past the injecter pump the rest then work. Good luck Bob Hill
  7. I bet this turns out to be something simple and easy to rectify, but nevertheless something to put in the fault book. Do we have a common fault book and if not why not? This could save us many spanner hours, frustration and pound notes. Regards Bob Hill
  8. Don't forget you may have to bleed the fuel system where fuel deprivation has occured at the injecters. Bob Hill
  9. Have you thought as 90% of all faults originate at THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT UNIT (EMU) Diconect the battery lesve for afew minutes, put back and try again. Could be the security system is acting up maybe the immobilisor hah engaged. Just an obscure thought Bob Hill
  10. After a very cold night you say. Could the diesel be frozen? Taxi drivers used to add a half cup of petrol in a full tank to avoid this situation of diesel freeze. The oil companies use additives but it depends how cold it was. Regards Bob Hill
  11. If you find that its the intermediate shaft MIREZ a long term member put me on to this Polish company. He did a very good piece on this subject. This is a dealer part only and comes out the other side of
  12. I usually find a wheel bearing is more of a whine rather than a rumble or vibration. I think I would be more inclined to look at the small half shaft in view of the amount of trouble it causes. Not cheap to replace either. Regards Bob Hill PS there are a number of posting on this stub axle/ halfshaft
  13. I have a 1.9 diesel on a 52 plate 90bhp If I want to change my battery but don't have the code for the radio. Can I find or change the code without knowing the code that's already in it? Regards Bob Hill
  14. Price of parts at Europarts Pump
  15. Hi My vehicle on a 52 plate has a 1.9 diesel 90bhp but has 2 fans. Regards Bob
  16. Hi, One of the fans comes on due to the air con, both come on when temp goes above halfway. Have you thought you may not have a fault. Regards Bob Hill
  17. Hi I had a similar problem some time ago on the same model. This proved to be the water pump, the impeller becomes detached from its shaft. When I rectified the pump I replaced the timing belt which seems prudent. Hope this helps Bob Hill
  18. I had this problem some time ago (about 6months) I used the Polish firm and I can't praise them enough. I ordered Monday, the part was dispatched Tuesday and I received it Thursday. The parts were well engineered and fitted perfectly. Because there are a number of different types depending on vehicle, I spoke to them on the phone surprisingly they spoke English and as I didn't Speak Polish it was a great help. Because of the number of different parts, I sent them JPegs of my old parts to make sure I got the correct version. The whole thing cost me about
  19. Check your drive shafts and half shaft Common fault is the halfshaft splines go, you can locate the shaft on the drivers side coming from the gearbox joining the o/s drive shaft. To check one end turns the other stays still. The firm below do a replacement part at half the Ford price, the firm is in Poland but don't let that put you off, mine came in 3days, service excellent, machining quality first class, if you ring them they do speak English. http://motomax.eu/eng/index.html Best of luck Bob Hill
  20. Has nobody ever tried these products or is everybody too shy to admit it. BH
  21. Over the last few weeks I have read such a lot about cylinder head gaskets and the likes. Has anybody tried any of the products that claim to cure these problems. The one below is called Steelseal but there are others made by Holts & Wynns. Question is do any of them work and do they do any harm if tried. http://www.steelseal.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=1 Regards Bob Hill
  22. Mirez talks about a common fault in a previous posting, its a system of warming the water quicker then cooling the exhaust gasses at the same time. Can anybody expand on this and how to check it. From what he says its comes from the rear of the inlet or outlet manifold. Regards Bob Hill
  23. Hi Chris Its a 1.9 tdi ANU on a 25plate. Had a run in it yesterday and the expansion bottle was showing it was gassing up. I think there is only one reason for this, plus maybe water pump as well. What sort of job is a head gasket, will I need to skim the head. If it is the head gasket I might as well change the pump, the belt and thermostat at the same time. Any ideas on cost for a garage to do. Parts will be about
