The cruise control on my 02 plate 2.3 Ghia has stopped working. It's been working with no problems until now. (The car doesn't have the indicator light in the instrument panel - or if it does then it's never worked). I fiddled with the switch & checked the hoses behind the nearside indicator. There hasn't been a gradual decline in it's performance as mentioned in other threads - it's totally stopped working. Very disappointing really. Any other ideas ? Cheers.

New Glass For A Wing Mirror
pj_andrew replied to pj_andrew's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Great. I'll look into it. Thanks. -
The wing mirror on the Gal has taken a knock. The only damage is that the mirror is now cracked. I don't want to pay for a replacement wing mirror, I just want to replace the glass. Can this be done ?

Sometimes I find that dirt covering the sensors confuses them. Just wipe and normality is restored.

Got 15,000 from the fronts (Dunlop 2020s). They weren't down to the minimum tread but were low enough for me to be concerned and get some new ones. I check pressures etc every week, so must be down to how I drive ! Rears are still virtually full tread depth at 28K (Got 2xDunlop 2020s for

The Gal got hit by a boulder (well, a massive stone) on the M1 over Easter  . It's left a horrible ding in the bonnet, about the size of a 5p piece. Gone right through the paintwork and left a small impact dent. On other cars, I've tried covering these over with touch up paint but it always looks rubbish. Any suggestions for something to cover the dent to stop if going rusty. (Or, can someone give fool proof instructions on using touch up paint and making it look good.)

OK. Will ring my dealer and see what they say.

..and how much did it cost ?

The FORD logo badge (the oval) on the back of the Gal has perished and the logo has started to flake off. It looks pretty messy on a 2 year old car. Anyone know somewhere I can get one cheap and how do you replace the badge? Cheers, P

Write/email Ford. Enough people telling them that 1 key is not acceptable may make them rethink. Better than accepting it and doing nothing.

Those are cracking pictures ! - no sweetie wrappers, crumbs nor collection of small paraphernalia left by various occupants. Mind you, 3 quid won't buy much parking where I live. So what are the fin like slots in the left side of the left bin for. I thought those were the coin slots - although I've never tried them !

My wife often sits in row 2, middle seat, and she can stretch her feet out into the spaces on either side of the handbrake. Perhaps that was what the space was left for ! The cup holders hold childrens drink bottles - you know the lovely Barbie or Thomes ones. Also those water bottles with pull out bottle lids fit well. No spillage problems. One thing I would like is a sliding division in the front door pockets. I could then put a 2 litre bottle of water in, slide the divider up to it and not have it fall over every time I start/stop. I hear you say, "Lay it down", true, but I'm worried it'll leak ! Good idea about the umbrella storage.

Fixed Positioning Of Rear Seats
pj_andrew replied to charles's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
I've not any problems with this. I (1.91m) sit in the middle row with the seat slid back and have plenty of room. I can't stretch my legs right out in front of me, is that your issue ? I've not found this an issue and can certainly sit comfortably in row 2. -
There seem to be coin slots in the left storage bin, which I don't use 'cause they are too far from the driver - instead I use the ashtray. The notches in the edges of the center bin - well - it's a mystery. All I can think is that they are needed as part of the manufacturing process. Or, perhaps there was a clever insert which never got manufactured.

Nationwide Autocentre And Aa Service Centre
pj_andrew replied to a topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
On previous cars, once the warranty period has expired, I have used the AA centre at the local Halfords for services. I've found it pretty good and never had any problems. -
2nd remote key - and about time. Reads like Ford have a job lot of Chrome and need to stick it somewhere. I presume this is all just filler until the all new Galaxy is released.

You know, I took the dealers word for what the colour was. My mwife liked it and that was good enough for me. Neptune, Spruce or even candy floss green! - as long as it looks good !

I use copper slip on the back of the brake pads and the securing bolts on the brakes for my motorbike. Stops the pads from seizing to the calipers and stops the bolts from seizing. It resists heat and never sets. One tip is make sure if goes nowhere near the "working" side of brake pads or else you'll have no braking power.

I got some from Halfords. Small tube, like toothpaste.

Filling Up With Fuel....
pj_andrew replied to Mikef's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have similar problems but its usually the pumps a garage uses. Other garage pumps work fine. If it is causing a problem, I don't push the nozzle in as far and that sorts it - however you have to be careful when its nearly full as the auto-stop doesn't work until its spilling out onto the floor. -
If you can get to White City, London, this place usually has a load of Galaxys. Car Giant (Just had a look, and they have 39 Galaxys of which 1 is a 2.8 ! - seem to be in short supply) Another in and around South West London is MJA Car Sales Today they have 3 2.8 cars out of 13 Galaxys.
