White Smoke And Power Loss

Over filled with oil maybe ? -
Is it common for the intercooler to leak oil? Recently noticed mine looking like it had fresh oil at the bottom to the side of the cooler :( Is there a diagnosis checklist and is there a common remedy like replacing the cooler or pipes or both? What causes the oil if air is passing through - oil vapour from the EGR? Thanks Gary

Great doc and thank you.

Thanks Mirez - that would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hi. Was it easy to remove the valve and manifold ? How long did it take you? I know mine could do with a clean Thanks Gary

I have the same problem (and low pressure on vagcom). Looked at getting a replacement condenser and fitting myself then getting it regased. Is this a DIY job ? Thanks Gary

Blank Key/spare Key
ggobin replied to paulzzippy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
not sure if this will work for you - but it did for me :-) get the key that opens the door put it in the lock turn it to the unlock position 3 times and the led in the door will flash then i think you hold the lock button and press unlock 3 times this will program the key fob then just put the spare somewhere safe -
Hi - Thanks - I had the same issue yesterday and followed the procedure above - worked for me  Thanks Gary

hi - they never made a haynes manual for the mk2 - but you can pick up a TIS cd of ebay for a couple of quid. Gary

hi all - Having issues with the parking sensors, - put in reverse then solid tone and flashing button :) I have connected VAGCOM and it does report a rear fault open/closed - when I listen for the clicks, there is one that is not clicking. i have wiggled the cables etc and don't see anything lose (but I have not taken it all off yet). Is it reasonably safe to asume that a replacement sensor is needed? and i did check for the swimming pool around the control unit and its dry (for now :) ) Does anyone know where I could get a reasonably priced sensor or if any one has one for sale? i have so far seen these on ebay - would they work? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-Galaxy-VW-Sharan-alhambra-1-PDC-PARKING-SENSOR-/110646158710?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19c3066576#ht_817wt_1139 many thanks - this forum has saved me a time and cash and given the confidence to tackle issues myself (and know the truth) Appreciated Gary

Galaxy 2002 Aux Heater Module Address
ggobin replied to urs4_2008's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
18 is the correct module - i had the same problem - if you still can not connect to the module - check the connector plug next to the heater under the car. I had to disconnect and drop the heater (easy job) and found broken and corroded wires, solder and heat shrink solved the issue. hope this helps Gary -

Overheat And Radiator Pipes
ggobin replied to john1doherty's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Do you have climate control - if so turn the air-con on as the fans run all the time when on  Temp for fans kicking in when AC off is on the forum somewhere - but will have to look around a bit further for you The vibration could be down to the aux belt tensioner (common problem), but check you power steering fluid level first :D Gary -
Aux Heater Continues To Run Even When Hot
ggobin replied to ggobin's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks Chris - yes she has done 105K, any ideas where i can get the brushes from? - is it a straight forward job? (looks like it is), or if there is any "how to for it". Thanks again Gary -
Hi Guys - i recently fixed my aux heater (thanks to this forum ), after fixing the connector, and replacing the glow plug, clearing the fault codes using VAGCOM the heater now works  My concern/question is that i understand the heater should not be working if the coolant is up to temp? - i drive for about 45mins at a time down the motorway and when i park up i can hear the aux heater running. should this be the case? Also if i turn the ignition on when cold i can feel the run on water pump working (well it vibrates a little) but when i switch the engine off i do not hear/feel the run on pump working at all . I understand that this should run for 2 mins or so?. So my question is : is this normal - is there any way for me to check the correct operation - do i have a faulty pump or sensor? Many Thanks Gary
-
Yes - condenser needs replacing as it is leaking gas - vagcom confirmed low pressure, so cleared the fault to stop the display flashing and will keep it in econ mode until I can afford to replace the condenser. Thanks again Chris for your help :D

hi everyone - sorry for the late update - i finally replaceed the glow plug on the aux heater (after being sold the wrong onen :D ), cleared the faults and tested again with the temp sensor shorted. Finally it did spring to life (and hot) :D . But i now notice that when i switch the ignition on - the complete climate control display flashes for about 10 seconds then goes back to normal - any ideas? oh btw - i got the plug from www.vwspares.co.uk for

Galaxy Clutch Noise
ggobin replied to Ben_Copeland's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had a similar issue when I first got my Galaxy - turned out to be a worn clutch release bearing. - -

Helps a lot <_< - i shorted out the sensor to test - but i like the idea of the switch - will order a glow plug from VW - unless if anyone knows is they can be purchased on-line. Thanks again

Thanks Ian - i took the heater off and looked at the connector - and found one of the wires (red) split and corroded, managed to repair it and i CAN now talk to the controller using VAGCOM. <_< Only issue i have now is that it is reporting a 01419 code - glow plug open circuit (i think) - any ideas? Also the unit looks to be a D0HYA (not sure if i have the right code) - is this one that could be opened and a new plug replaced? Many Thanks Gary
-
Hi - so i have checked all the fuses -all good, I did find the multi connector - could not see anything wrong, still can not see on vagcom <_< Should i be able to see the controller in vagcom even if the temp is above 10c right? Ian - thanks for the feedback - when you had the issue with the connection did you have a pin out to test the voltages on the connector of was there just a visible broken wire? Thanks Gary
-
Thanks Chris - is the multi connector on the heater accessible from under the care with having to remove the unit?
