  1. That's the main reason I'm asking. I want to know if there is some form of switch whereby the front sensors are selected over the rear ones. If this is possible it will probably make the missus very happy!
  2. I have bought an aftermarket parking sensor kit for my Gal. I have noticed on some Shalaxys that there are sensors on the front as well as the rear. How are these switched on/off? The kit I have bought is more like a protector strip which sticks to the bumper. There is 5 metres of the strip so I should be able to apply it to the front and back - I just need to know how I can switch the front sensors on. Any help will be much appreciated :P (My wife is more concerned about being unable to see the front of the bonnet than the back of the car!)
  3. Could anybody advise me what I have to do to remove the drivers seat from my 95 Galaxy. I am planning on installing a 10 cd changer in the cubby hole under it. If you could advise what tools I am likely to need I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks :P
  4. From what I have found the same speakers are fitted in the Mk1 & 2 Galaxys (should that be Galaxies?!?!). The mounting depths are apparently the same on all, with the exception of the front doors in the Mk1. You may well be lucky and they will fit - there's not much difference between 16.5 and 17cm. Have a go and tell us how you got on :)
  5. GSMGuy - The Galaxy speakers are 17cm and yours are 16.5cm :D My guess is that you could make something up, but I'm not sure what the mounting depth of your speakers is as they don't come up on the Sony site. It may be time to buy a new set!
  6. You say speaker holes - does this mean I can make my 8 speaker stereo into a 10? If so, are the wires there and what size speakers fit?
  7. Yuck!!! That was one of the reasons I went for a Galaxy over an Espace - Centrally mounted clocks are horrible!!!
  8. If anybody is interested, I have found that the following speakers can be fitted as direct replacement for the door speaker on any Shalaxy (with the exception noted below) Pioneer *TS-E1776 2-Way 180w Max 35w RMS 28hz-30Khz Pioneer TS-G1748 2-Way 170w Max 35w RMS 30hz-25Khz Pioneer TS-G1718 Dual Cone 170w Max 35w RMS 30hz-22Khz Pioneer TS-1776II 3-Way 170w Max 35w RMS 30hz-26Khz Pioneer TS-1785 2-Way component 170w Max 35w RMS 35hz-30Khz Pioneer TS-1756II 2-Way 160w Max 35w RMS 30hz-22Khz Pioneer TS-1746II Dual Cone 160w Max 35w RMS 30hz-22Khz Sony XS-F1734 3-Way 200w Max 40w RMS 25hz-25Khz 47.5mm depth Sony XS-F1724 2-Way 190w Max 40w RMS 25hz-23Khz 47.5 mm depth Kenwood KFC-P727EC 2-Way component 160w Max 40w RMS 30hz-30Khz 46 mm depth Kenwood ~KFC-1739ie 3-Way 170w Max 40w RMS 30hz-30Khz 58.2 mm depth Kenwood KFC-1729C 2-Way 160w Max 35w RMS 30hz-22Khz 45 mm depth Kenwood KFC-1719C Dual Cone 160w Max 35w RMS 30hz-20Khz 45 mm depth * Requires adaptor UD-M171 ~ Only for front doors of MK1 I have been advised by my local ICE centre that the Kenwood speakers are likely to be the best - Now all I have to do is find the best price B) I'll keep you all up-to-date on my findings!
  9. gritrash & djacks42 - Did you have to remove the front seat to get the changer installed? In which case, how difficult was it and how long did it take?
  10. I believe relay 30 is something to do with the fuel pump - I can't be ceratin though as the fuse and relay details in the owners manual I bought bear no resemblance to the actual fuse and relay locations. Anybody got an early (ie 95) galaxy owners manual they can photocopy the fuse and relay details from? (scanned would be fine too!!!)
  11. There are precious few cubby holes in my Galaxy and I would prefer not to use that - partly because I'll probably need to remove lots of trim/carpet to feed the wires through
  12. I've just bought a Kenwood head unit and 6 disc CD changer. Has anybody got advice on the best place to install it? My wife suggested that it might attach under the dash in the passenger footwell - not sure if it can be secured well enough there. Any pics of other owner's installs would be most appreciated.
  13. I would prefer to keep the Ford logo on the steering wheel so that, if and when I come to sell the Gal, I don't get the question "why has it got a VW/Audi/Seat* badge on the steering wheel?" *Delete as appropriate!!!
  14. Has anybody changed their steering wheel for a Mondeo one like This? I am sick of the missing horn button and, although I can replace it, i'm sure it will break again. Will it work as a straight swap? Do you have any suggestions for alternative Ford steering wheels (maybe later Gals have a different wheel - I don't know)
  15. The dealer is yanking your chain!!! If there is a bulb there then the item should be wired up. Even if there isn't it should probably be wired for one - My 95 Galaxy had a similar issue with the rear fog lights because only the offside worked. On inspection I found that the nearside was blanked in the lens - I knocked out the blank and added a bulb and hey presto - 2 working fog lights. My guess is that the dealer doesn't want to investigate the problem because it may expose something more sinister  (maybe a botched repair after an accident!)
  16. Is it as easy to fit cruise control to a 1995 Galaxy 2.0 GLX  My guess is no! :D
  17. You have to press the left pedal and fiddle about with that stick between the front seats (the upright one - not the one lying parallel to the floor) :D
  18. That's how much I was looking to pay too - If you get 2 sets maybe you'll get a discount :D If you are able to get some for me (with the mirrors, lights & covers in-tact) then I'll pay you quickly. PM me with the results of your search, cost and prefered method of payment. I look forward to hearing from you!
  19. I had a look on the Intapart web site and made a parts enquiry about exactly the same thing - The reply was that they don't have a pair of sun visors despite the fact that their current breaking list includes: 1 Galaxy (new arrival) 4 Alhambras 4 Sharans and a partridge in a pear tree! I don't know if they are fobbing me off because I asked them for a delivered price (Manchester is a bit of a distance from Daventry  ). If anybody is local is going there and can check for a decent set I would appreciate their help  I would like to know a price as well - how much should I expect to pay a scrappie for a pair of Shalambraxy sun visors?
  20. I'm only planning to do the windows behind the B Post - I don't want to open that can of worms
  21. Try a bit of WD40 inside the mechanism
  22. An additional question! I have seen the Ai606 on ebay for ~
  23. My windows have no tint whatsoever - and no aircon!!! I haven't had it through a hot summer yet (hopefully this year :D ) but I'm told that tinting can reduce the heat transmission through the windows by up to 74%
