Hi. After much fiddling and twiddling, I've decided to ditch the factory fitted sat nav unit for something (read ANYTHING) that will play CDs. Basically I've had a quick peek on ebay and they all seem to be different shapes and sizes. Is there something I should look out for especially, or something to avoid? Will anything the same size fit - or leave irritating but tiny gaps round the edges in the trim? Any help or advice much appreciated. Ultimately I want CD in the front, while the kids stick earphones in with the DVDs in the back. Plan B involves routing the DVD player to the speakers, which will not allow me to listen to CDs while they watch their films, and will mean I have to listen to the dialogue in some pretty random kids films without any idea what's going on... Cheers K x

You keep going back... I'd say they had no motivation to. Can't you find another place to go? -

Wheel Nuts, Not Locking.

So must go to Ford then... Ho hum. -
My garage service has highlighted the missing locking wheel nuts, and has told me to get some more. I'd really rather not having locking ones, but can't find any ordinary ones anywhere... am I not looking in the right place? How much should I aim to pay? Is it just a case of buying the nuts and screwing them into a preordained hole? Is there something else I need to seat them into - or is that the wheel??? (Sorry, I just drive the thing...) Do I have to go to Ford?

Locking Wheel Nut Removal
kebrina replied to mk2vr6's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Mirez, I know it's dangerous, and I asked my garage why it had managed to sail through it's MOT with four nuts missing. He said because the wheels have got the cover thingy in the centre you can't see the nuts/bolts whatever they are called and the MOTing people are not allowed to touch the trim or remove it. Makes the point of an MOT rather moot. He said if you could get a car there with just one bolt on each wheel it would still pass, as long as they couldn't see it. Anywho, will any standard set of nots/bolts fit my smashing alloys? I think they are factory standard, not retrofit. I really wanna get this sorted, and I'm with you on the not having locking ones anyway... -
Locking Wheel Nut Removal
kebrina replied to mk2vr6's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Crikey. While we're on the topic though, just had mine serviced and apparently it's got NO locking wheel nuts at all. They are all missing. There are only four nuts on each wheel (I've a feeling the people who sold it to me either pinched them, or took them off to do something to something and forgot to replace them). Where can I get some locking wheel nuts from at a good price, and are they self fittable, or do I need a special tool? (Like a man?) -
Where Can I Get A Door Sensor From?
kebrina replied to kebrina's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Yeah, I know about opening another door, but I still forgot when trying to strap all chilblains down in a hurry. Have fixed it now though, got a new bit from Listers VW, even though I got attitude and looks from men clearly thinking I'm an idiot woman. Ford Galaxy, says I - You do know this is a VW showroom??? ARGH. Came in eventually, and they never rang me back when they said they would - just under -

I'm guessing he's not took your point, as has posted on another of my topics asking for parts info. -

That makes 7 posts linking to the same site. Am I alone in considering you have ulterior motives here? -

Solving The Key Problem

Right, I only have one key. It's fully functional and remote locks/unlocks doors and starts engine. What do I do/where do I go to get another as cheap as possible. It had not occurred to me that only one key would be an issue, after all, only one person can drive it at a time - and it's not caused problems yet. TOUCH WOOD!! -
'course it is. Anything's possible! Someone beter than I will be able to tell you how. I still can't get mine to work all the time though. It decides when we can watch it and when we can't. Bit like the telly in the living room, seems to insist we watch channel 4.

Awww. Wish there was a Mr Mirez near me...

This is soooo true, but I'm impressed I've managed to wangle 23mpg out of mine on the school run, and it hit 35 on a long haul!

I've got a 52 plate Galaxy ghia, for the same reason as you - I need three child seats. I have a three point seatbelt for the centre seat coming out of the ceiling and going three ways by itself (it plugs in to BOTH sides of the same seat.) You can remove any or all of the seats to suit. I generally have three in an L shape so I can get in easily to strap all the sprogs down. You'll not regret buying a Galaxy (unless you get a lemon). It's a cracking car and does everything I ask it to. I had all three kids in and a single divan bed the other day.

Where Can I Get A Rear Parking Sensor From?
kebrina replied to kebrina's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Thanks guys, will ask that chap on ebay if it's got all the pluggy bits with it... Can't believe the nerve of some people. I bet the same thieving toe-rag nicked all my dust caps too. Serves me right for parking in ASDA. -
O/S rear parking sensor has vanished. Just disappeared. I've rescued a couple of wires from dangling under the car, and (for now) tied them to the tow hitch. Heaven only knows what's happened, but where can I get a replacement from? And will it be easy for me to wire it up and replace, or will I need a man... Thought I'd ask on here first, as you were so helpful in replacing my door contact switch... Thanks again.

Auxilliary Heater - Where Is It?
kebrina replied to kebrina's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Ah, yes, confusion aplenty. As long as I've nothing using up superfluous fuel, I'm a happy bunny. Thanks! -
Where would I find it, if indeed it exists? I've just read an ad for a car the same as mine, stating it's got one, and now I'm hoping like heck mine hasn't. It uses enough fuel as it is... (no there will not be a post where I do not whine about my fuel consumption ;) Oh how I need a Haynes book.
