"So 51 indicates the car was first registered in the second 5 half of 2001" Except mines a 51 plate and was registered in January 2002 ;) Trust the DVLA to make it really confusing :D

Aux Heater Can I Disconnect It

I pulled the fuse on mine (MK II). I think from memory it was number 12 in the main fuse panel, down and right of the steering column. -
Ford Formua E 15w-30 - Pd Engine ?
HJT replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
When I bought a litre of oil from my local Ford Dealer they knew immediately what oil I should have in it and the back of the container states 505.01 for VW PD engines so if it doesn't have that it ain't right. Howard -
That price is way too high. Parkers quotes

Did you get your new one fitted? and did it stop the grinding noise? Howard

We use these regularly. In fact this was one of the things we particularly wanted on the Gal. They are great for picnics. We take out 2 middle seats to leave a large space and it works great. Drivers one is a bit tricky to swivel but with a bit of practice it's quite easy. Howard -
The aux heater is supposed to kick in when the outside air temperature is 5 degrees or below. There does however, seem to be a large variation in this, with some people saying theirs comes on at 10 degrees, others less than 5. Howard

Sounds like something is wrong with your aerial then, as I get great reception on my built in one. Could be worth checking cables, amplifiers etc. Howard

Reliable aircon  Sliding doors would be nice and keyless entry and starting would also be useful. Oh and my own personal chauffeur called Les  Howard -
Thanks for the update. Hopefully if anyone else gets the same symptoms this will point them in the right direction. Cheers Howard

Does anyone know if VAG-COM can be used to turn on the "miles left in tank" function on the MK2 Ghia fuel computer as I really miss this from my Mondeo. Howard
-
I would go to a specialist and claim the money back from your dealer, telling them first what you intend to do. Most dealers know very little about aircon. Howard
-
I agree. Leaving it can cause more problems. Mine cost

Which Should I Buy (and Other Questions)?
HJT replied to SteveB's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Note though, that if it has the optional dual aircon, only one of the rear quarterlights will open as there is no space to fit the fixings for the second one, due to the rear aircon pipes running past there. You can tell if it has dual aircon, if it has two rows of adjustable vents in the roof lining. Howard -
New Maf Still Loss Of Power
HJT replied to andrew welsh1958's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I think this can be a problem. I had power loss on mine and was expecting it to be the maf but the Ford Dealer said it was the connection that had got dirty and once cleaned it ran fine and still is. Howard -
My 2002 Galaxy Ghia, shows up as a Ghia X on the insurance databases and they have never done a MK2 Ghia X <_< Howard

Cruise Control Operation
HJT replied to chromedome's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I just tap the clutch pedal lightly. You don't need to operate the clutch at all, just a small tap, pressing the pedal down about half an inch does it. I never use the on off switch on the stalk. Howard -
Dual aircon is standard now on all Ghia models. Howard
-
Yeah!! Very common problem. I've had 2 new sets on my 2002 Galaxy (both under warranty). Howard
-
I think you have a problem, mine changes almost straight away. Howard

Thats appalling B) It's difficult to find a good dealer. I have a big Ford dealer near me who has a terrible reputation and some of the stories I've heard are as bad and worst than yours. But another small Ford dealer near me is a really good, friendly, knowledgable company who have always given excellent service. I think once you find a good one, try to stick with them. Howard
