  1. Hi, I have been driving an S-MAX 1.8 TDCI Zetec for a few weeks (demo car). The S-MAX is great, I can't faut it at all. Space is as good as the MK1/2 Gal, performance is good and interior is great. Interestingly I received a flyer from Ford through the post and a new Galaxy 1.8 TDCI is
  2. So what do you think?? Is it a security breach??? Mussey1.
  3. Tt appears to be a message in spanish, something about african elephants and victory to the IRA. Funnily enough I also recieved my 1st pshishing email last nite, pretending to be from paypal. I hope the two are not connected. These guys may have our email addresses etc, so it would be wise to keep alert. Mussey1.
  4. Can anyone tell me why we are getting a weird message if try to logon to the welcome screen. goto www.fordgalaxy.org.uk and see what happens!! has the site been hacked into?? Mussey1.
  5. I think the S-max looks far better than virtually any mpv on the market. Unless you really need the space, I can see many people downsising to the S-max as it will cost approximately the same as the current galaxy and looks way more sporty. I changed from a Galaxy to a Corolla Verso and have to admit that the rearmost chairs are only used very occasionaly. In normal day to day use the smaller car is fine. If however I had 4 kids, I would choose a 'proper' mpv as the fold away rear seats are not really good enough for everyday use/long journeys. Mussey1.
  6. When I changed mine the nut was so tight I broke an 18mm socket (it fractured into pieces) and my hand flew off the handle so fast I nearly broke my knuckles on the suspension strut. When I did the other side I sprayed plenty of wd40 onto the nut and let it sit for a hour or so and also wore some heavy gloves just in case. It would definately be an easier job if the car was on a ramp. Mussey1.
  7. Hi, Just replace the ARB drop links anyway to see if the noise stops. I would be 99.9% sure that the problem will be cured. When I replaced mine a few years ago it was only apparent that they were shot when they had been removed from the car. There are reports of these things failing on very low mileage cars and is a common problem. They do really make a hell of a noise, in fact I thought that my car was dangerous to drive because the noise was so bad!!! Mussey1.
  8. Donna, Mk2 Galaxy 115 BHP TDi was in about September 2000. I think that the Sharan and Ahambra versions were introduced in July 2000. For
  9. Hi, The car is not actually advertised. I spotted it when I called at the owners house on other business about 8 months ago. The owner since died and the car is still there so I spoke to a family member and asked if it was for sale? I will have to make them an offer but I dont know how much. MM.
  10. Hi, maybe someone can help. I may be going to look at a 1.8 LX. I think the car was possibly registered in 2000, but I think it is one of the older '98 models (chrome on boot + grille) that had sitting about. The problem is it belonged to an elderly gentleman who took ill just after he bought it and it has been sitting for approx 4-5 yrs. I have been told that the mileage is low, however how what do you pay for a car like that?? No tax..MOT...probably needs belts, full service, moss cleaned off, tyres etc.etc. Is is worth looking at?? With a bit of TLC it could be a great car! Hope someone can give me some advice. Thanks. MM.
  11. I had a problem with the ABS light and after I had tried a few 'emergency stops' the problem seened to cure itself. Make sure that the abs connectors are okay.. u can see them under the front wheelarches near the shock absorber. I was aslo informed by a mechanic that it is possible that rusty brake dust etc can get stuck between the sensor and disc (i think the sensors are magnetic) and this can also cause problems. This can happern when the pads are changed. Mussey1.
  12. In '99 the Si badge became 'Zetec'. Supposedly the sporty one in the range!! Mussey1.
  13. Hi, Anyone know how to fix excessive left to right movement of driver's seat backrest?? Fore and aft is okay. Are there any bolts that need tightened?? Also if I need to take the seat out how do I remove/ unplug the pyrotechnic seat belt retractor? Thanks. Mussey1.
  14. If its a 53 plate you should be able to get the bulbs replaced under warranty. Mussey1.
  15. If its a creaking noise put some grease on the rubber blocks. Worked on my car! Mussey1.
  16. Neil, I replaced mine a few months ago. They cost approx
  17. Mine does a similar thing. Oil pressure light flashes three times when starting from cold. Does not come on when running or when starting the engine when it is warm. Possibly a fussy oil pressure switch. Musasey1.
  18. Shazza, You can get that adjusted. As you can see from the pictures of my car the blind spot is very small. Mussey1.
  19. If you were using it to clear mist on the inside of the screen you would be waiting for a while. They are really only for clearing ice/snow on the outside of the screen. Did you notice a slight drop in the engine revs when switched on?? If so it is probably working. What age is your car?? On Mk1's you can't run H.F.S, H.R.S and rear heater at the same time. Mussey1.
  20. Hi, My TDI does a similar thing. If the car has been standing overnight the oil light will flash twice after the engine has been started. I put it down to the oil pressure sensors being very sensitive. Mussey1.
  21. Just a thought. Are there more instances of problems with climate control as opposed to manual air-con??? It seems to me that with climate control on 'Auto' the AC will be on almost constantly unless switched to 'ECON'. Manual aircon would not be used as often. I have manual aircon and have had no problems to date...(hope I haven't spoken too soon!!!). Mussey1.
  22. HotScot, Remember if your car has ABS you need it working for MOT. There may be insurance implications also. I had thought that the easy solution was just to disconnect the ABS if it had packed in, but the MOT people here in N.Ireland told me that if ABS is standard it MUST work. MOT tests in NI are government run, so it's not just a matter of mechanics trying to squeeze money out of you. Mussey1.
  23. Some other manufacturers call them 'Extra Load' tyres. Mussey1.
  24. SA, I replaced mine a few weeks ago and noticed that they were of a slightly different design than the ones I removed. The main difference I noticed was the introduction of a 'Hex' socket on the end of the thread. Don't know if they are heavier or not. Mine are totally silent now. Really makes the car seem like new!! Mussey1.
  25. I think the load rating of 93 on the Pirellis is too low for a Galaxy. The tyres also need to be reinforced. Mussey1.
