Electrics Slowly Packing In
popeye2755 replied to purtywhipper's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
2 months ago: Remote fob stops working. Fob battery? Shortly after: Windows start doing the old opening themselves trick while car is parked up and locked You aren't sitting on your keys by any chance? (Global opening) Used to happen to me all the time! Shortly after: Rear passenger side door won't centrally lock. http://www.fordgalax...4104#entry64104 http://www.fordgalax...2231#entry82231 Shortly after: Rear drivers side window won't open (This one remains closed if the other 3 open themselves) http://www.fordgalax...4104#entry64104 http://www.fordgalax...2231#entry82231 Yesterday: Dashboard instrument lights stop working. All of them? Yesterday: Fan / heater seems very weak. Unsure about this one, possibly resistor pack. This morning: Out to car, key barely opens drivers door but not the others. I hear a clicking from the fuse box area, and car won't turn over. This could just be a knackered battery! -
Alternator Problems?
popeye2755 replied to DougJones's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Have you put a DVM on the battery to check the "real" voltage when the fault occurs? That would be interesting... -
The FAQs aren't working for me either, and the rest of the site is very iffy since it came back. All I can suggest is keep trying...

Trying to reply to posts, getting errors... trying a new thread instead.

All Windows Opening By Themselves!
popeye2755 replied to debramalka's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
you haven't "sat" on your key by any chance have you? If you hold down the unlock button on your fob, it will activate the global window function... Happens to me all the time... -

It might also be a good idea to remove the mobile phone number... Good post by the way. -

Have you tried disconnecting the MAF and seeing if there's any improvement? -
English Or As Near To Please!
popeye2755 replied to chrispb123456's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
"First thing is this the 4 or 5 speed changing fluid and filter on 4 speed is easy as sump can be removed and filter changed, on the 5 speed you cannot change filter without G/box removal, on both boxes you will not be able to remove all the fluid because of design so to do a good change you need to change fluid 2 or 3 times with a drive between changes the colour of the fluid is a good indication as to the condition of the fluid it should be a cherry red colour." Let he who is without sin cast the first grammatical error. -

Galaxy V6 Starts Then Stops

Immobiliser? Try a forum search, there's loads of info. -
Mine does this all the time. Try this: 1. Fully open all windows. 2. Close all the doors, and then close all the windows by using the key in the drivers door and holding it in the "lock" position. This should activate the "global closing". 3. Hopefully, this should reset the windows. (Does on mine anyway!)

Unlocked Doors Open Window Help Needed

You haven't "sat" on your keys and activated the global unlock have you? Happens to me sometimes... -
Hi Mike, the mixed tyre pattern did cross my mind, but as it's a company car, I'm in the hands of the lease company. In fact, both front tyres needed replacing, and they only authorised for one to be replaced, and used the spare as a front tyre, and a put a worn one back as the spare. So now I have a barely legal spare! John

Thanks Mo4, it's reinforced, just wasn't sure about the load rating. Cheers
-
Hi all, just had one of the front tyres changed at KwikFit. When I got hone I noticed that the new tyre is rated at 95H, while all the others are rated ay 97H. Is the new tyre OK to use? Cheers

Auto Geabox - Stuck !
popeye2755 replied to IceBoy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Is there still a mileage limit on the warranty? My last Alhambra (04 plate) was still having warranty work done on it at 105,000 miles, apparently due to the fact it was still under 3 years old? -

Press the AUTO and ECON buttons at the same time, should toggle it between the two modes. -
Just taken delivery of the new Alhambra, and I was trying to figure out if it has global closing via the keyfob. It will open the windows by holding down the "unlock" button, but won't close them again by holding the "lock" button. Is this normal?

Air Con Question
popeye2755 replied to popeye2755's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Bugger! Driving through a storm today, the wipers stopped. (The main dealer also replaced the wiper linkage at the same time as sorting the A/C). Called out the RAC, who managed to sort it out at the roadside. Apparently, the dealer had forgotten to tighten up the clamp(?) that attaches the linkage to the motor. Thank god I wasn't overtaing a dirty big truck on the motorway when it happened. -

popeye2755 replied to popeye2755's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You could be right! They forgot to reconnect the MAF, it was like driving a tractor....... 10 minutes back at dealer and all sorted with an apology. A/C is working really well, managed to acheive a vent temp of 2.8C with an ambient of 20C. Time will tell..... -

Result! Car has been to Main Dealer, and this time they found a leak on the high pressure switch. Hopefully this will be the end of the problem..... -
