  1. Hee hee - problem solved. I hadn't ensured that the multi-pin connector inside the heater was fully engaged. You need to get your fingers behind the cover and make sure it's fully engaged before screwing on the end plate. Only took me 1 1/2 hours to stip and re-fit this time - I'm getting faster! Hopefully that's it for another 4 1/2 years.
  2. I've just had a quick look and there is a Bosch recirc pump mounted just in front of the heater, I must have disturbed the wiring/connector between it and the heater, I can see it and it's protected by a plastic cable wrap. I got my hand to the recirc pump plug and it feels secure so I guess the plug on the heater needs re-seating and I can't get at that. When I get some time to remove the heater again I'll post my findings.
  3. It took me just under 2 hours to replace the glowplug. I then reset the flameout error codes ready for startup, now I get "Recirc pump, open circuit". I guess I've disturbed a plug or not connected the multiplug inside the heater properly, so I'm going to have to remove it again to check the connectors. (getting fed up now)
  4. My glowplug has failed again. It has lasted 4 1/2 years since I changed it according to the date of the post when I did the photo's (on page 6). Since my Alhambra is now just over 9 years old, I would say that it is due since it last failed when it was almost 5 years old. Ah well, I don't mind doing it again, at least I know what to do! I had the VAG-COM on it last night, and yes, the dreaded "flame out" error codes have returned. I can't believe how long this thread is and how many views it has had, obviously a common problem!
  5. Just got my Alhambra back from the main dealer. New condenser fitted,
  6. Just been into the main dealers for a diagnostic. Its the condenser that is leaking,
  7. Now booked in at my favourite main dealer to be fixed.....
  8. I know how you feel. I spent
  9. Typical, nice hot weather and my air-con has packed in. It is hissing from behind the glovebox, and blowing warm air. I have had no trouble with the air-con for 6 years since most of it was replaced under warranty. (two new compressors, condenser and it turned out to be the evaporator). I'll have a look at the dryer cap tonight, but I really can't justify spending
  10. 8-10 mins It runs for 20 mins
  11. fully defrosted? I thought it just heated up the coolant, how can this defrost the windscreen? or does it run the inside fan the as well? Yes, it controls the climate control which displays "HE", the usual fans blow warm air around, and defrosts all the windows.
  12. I knew someone out there had one of these....do you use it ? I most certainly do. I forgot to set it last night so I was iced up this morning. No problem, as there is also an "instant on" button, so I went out, pressed it, when back in, had breakfast, then drove off fully defrosted  and no worries about it being stolen. It's a must have for my next car.

  14. I forgot to mention that since my first post I had new front pads fitted about 18months ago, and also had the discs replaced too for the hell of it. Still beeps once or twice a year, but hasn't for about 6 months. No fault show on VAG-COM last time I checked (ages ago).
  15. A quick update This rarely happens, maybe one or twice a year. I think it is road salt/rain getting in the connector? So rare I don't worry about it. I've had no faults on this car for ages, it never fails to amaze me how good it is, I doubt that I'll ever sell it.
  16. Well, it was definitely the MAF, I just fitted a new one and I can't believe the difference. It must have been slowly degrading over time. Symptoms were: General lack of power "I'm sure it was better than that before" feeling. Slightly hesitant acceleration. The new one cost me
  17. Hmm It's been running fine today? Maybe it's on it's way out and all I've done is disturb it? New one should arrive tomorrow.
  18. Well hopefully that is it then. I'm a couple of hundred miles shy of 70,000 Just found one on Euro car parts for
  19. My Alhambra has started accelerating strangely. It doesn't go to well, picks up, slows, has another go, then slows again, but not all the time. Are these MAF symptoms? I just whipped my MAF out , it's never been replaced in 7 years, the date code on it is 04/00 (First registered July 2000). Now it doesn't accelerate well at all (with it disconnected) but it IS smoother, and I'm unsure if I can still feel the unwillingness to accelerate (maybe, just slightly). Is 7 years for a MAF it then, should I buy another?
  20. Take the wiper arms off again. Switch on the wipers with the arms removed, then turn them off, this will ensure they are parked in the correct position. Refit them onto the splines without turning the shafts. If they are at the wrong angle lift them off, rotate them slightly, then place them back on, again do not turn the shafts. They should be positioned as per my last photo above. If you do rotate the shaft when fitting them onto the splines, start again!
  21. Where is the best place to get a speedbuster from? I've just bought myself a fast second car and it's making my Alhambra feel slow. (Should have got one years ago) I've search all the posts, looked on speedbusters german website (it's down), and I think it's the PX version I need.
  22. ok done the links in the 3 posts Thanks Ivor
