my galaxy failed mot 3 years ago on the same problem an auto electrician mate of mine had to run a wire from the back of the switch to the wiring by the back light it was just a temp job to get an mot but as this worked i have left it like that.

hi gregers mine also had advisory on top strut mount i already bought some of ebay last year just in case but was told today at the mot station that they don't need changing yet as when the car is jacked up there should be a bit of movement.

car going tomorrow to have the steering rack tested the specialist recons the rack is fcuked. the car has had new fan belt and tensioners so i now it's not that. also the play get worse the more you drive it, have also jacked the car up and disconnected the track rod ends and the rack still got play in it and gets harder the more you turn the steering. thanks for all the replys

Thanks for your reply but doing the test that i done' my power steering pump worked when i bumped started the engine as steering went light again but the play came back that's why i asked if anyone has had this before??!!

Hi I have a fault on my steering. First thing in the morning its fine for about a mile then it starts to wander. Today I tested it going down hill with a number of left and right corners, I switched the engine off (as if i was being towed) and had to use all my strength just to get it around the corner. Has anyone ever experienced this before? It's a 2.3 petrol on a T plate.

Had the same problem on my galaxy live at switch but no power to rear fog lights fuse was alright, relay was alright ,checked wires in boot rubber them also alright ,quick fix just to get car MOT is run a wire from back of switch ,cut the live wire and join the new wire run this along under door trim to by the back of rear light cut the fog lght wire and join the new wire and this will get it through MOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you buy new plugs tell them what cc and year your galaxy is and the plugs they supply will have the right gap.

Had my friends brother come out yesterday but couldn't find anything wrong. The diagnostic kept saying no communication so couldn't use that either. Have phoned a garage today but they think its an electric problem, so an auto electrician is looking at it tomorrow. Have ordered a new relay 30 (after phoning loads of places and having no luck!!) but seeing as though it costs

lift wiperarms off the window then turn your wipers on. If the wipers work fine then your linkages are starting to cease. I had the same problem with mine took me 3 hours to mend

check in your fuse box 3rd row by the relays big 40amp fuse this works the air con fans on my 2.3 1999 galaxy. look in faq under relay 30 gives you step by step instructions on how to take fuse box apart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look here faq common questions and solutions no 36 and follow instructions.

my 2.3 mk 1 has lots of torque tows a caravan around north wales with now problems and on the hills it just keeps going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
