  1. Who was robbed? Are you referring to Justice who paid
  2. Okay just bought a Gemini remote locking kit on ebay. Will advise how I get on when it arrives. You can get very cheap kits on ebay but I went for Gemini as I have heard of the brand - not sure about quality of the others though they probably do the job. You can even get one for
  3. To answer your question though - yes you can buy remote fobs...tons on sale onebay for example. However, it is not clear to me whether they will work with your car. On another thread, a guy said he tried a Golf remote on his Sharan and it didn't seem to work. I recently sold my Golf else I could have tried it for you.
  4. Seems like a problem on the Car rather than the remote if you programme it and it works once then you need to programme again. The reason I say that is that the car as far as I know doesn't send signals to the key fob. The key fob signal is stored in the car when programmed and when it is received from the fob the car then opens the doors. So it seems like the car is losing the programming info.
  5. Thanks, don't think it has the ball sensor. Seems like I will have to get one of those after market remote locking kits.
  6. Can you elaborate on "died" as you can just change the batteries on the exisiting fob.
  7. Hi I have a 1998 Mk 1 Galaxy and I think it is a GLX. It has central locking but I got it second hand and so there are not remote key fobs What I need to know is does this car have remote locking? If so then I only ned get the fobs ( from where?) If not what is a good easy to install remote locking kit? The reason I want to do this is the driver door lock doesn't work with the key. Removed it and so of the little parts beind the barrel appear to be broken. There is NO paddle!! Frauds want me to change the entire handle which I don't want to do as I'll end up with separate keys for the ignition and door. So in a nutshell how do I know if the car has remote locking and if not what's a good kit to install
  8. Okay thanks mate - will check at VW parts sales
  9. Madbaz Do you have any specifics re the "paddle" replacements you speak about e.g. part number? or will Volkswagen recognise the term? The reason I ask is that My driver door lock - I had to move the key through almost 270degress to get the dorrs to lock. Now the key gets stuck and in fact door won't lock from the driver side. From searching the forum, I think it might be the broken paddles behind the barrel. I have to use the passenger side to lock the doors.
  10. Oops, sorry it's me being a bit thick.....when I did it again to check, the error message was that the search did not find anything to return. Since it was a red error message I just assumed it was saying I couldn't use the search facility. The terms I looked up were "lock paddle" as I came across this in a thread about central locking.
  11. From reading the general info for trainee members, I should have the ability to search the forum but for some reason I get an error message when I try to do so Is this mormal? Or am I doing someting incorrectly? Please advise.
  12. Hi, Just wanted to introduce myself. I have a 1998 2.3 Galaxy (I don't know the exact model - is there an easy way to tell?). It doesn't have a computer for aircon etc, but dial switches. I have had it for almost ten years now (got it when it was six months old from a car supermarket) I really like it apart from fuel consumption (it is a petrol engine and really drinks) My wife hates it as she finds it hard to park.
