Thats right a cloned key cant be used to program a 3rd via the car but locksmiths can programme a unique key as well its the way i went then bought a fouth key just to be safe

Well it might if its not too faulty try putting it in series with a load (brake light bulb should do )then measure voltage at bulb and current in circuit then using ohms law work out what its resistance is R=V/I
