Have the header tank sniff tested. If it is not the head gasket (and most likely it will not be, the sniff test is the easiest first test) then the water pump has almost certainly stopped working correctly.

The lambda will most likely be seized in and will need a oxy-acetylene torch to remove it, so I would fit a new one. Universal ones are no good, you will want one that is specific to the car, make sure of this when you buy it, ask to make sure it is not a universal. If your pocket can stand it you can do no better than to buy it from Ford. If not try to get one from a factors such as Partco rather than a parts shop, your more likely not to get fobbed off with a universal one then.

Yes, just hook up VAG-COM, go to the heater module and scan it, then clear the codes. If it then fails five times in secession then most likely you need a new glow-plug. It is an easy job to remove it and test it, but the plugs are available quite cheaply now so if it was me I would have one on hand anyway.
