It MIGHT be the gear selector cables getting stretched/worn? I take it this is a main dealer part only and i couldnt get one from fraud as its a vdub enginge and box

Hi all Happy new year to everyone :P I have a 96 sharan 2.0ltr petrol with a manual gearbox,when i first bought it the gearbox was a little sloppy but after doing 170,000 miles i thought it was normal tbh, Just recently ive had a few problems and was wondering if anyone knew what can be done to resolve them ?? here we go 1.sloppy gearbox just feels loose at gear stick 2.first thing in morning from cold 1st and 2nd can be hard to get into ,no crunching just feels hard to locate 3.right this is the most annoying 3rd gear can be hard to locate sometimes and when you think its in gear it will grunch and grind so you have to locate it into 3rd again and sometimes with the clutch pressed in it jumps out of 3rd and grinds the cogs same when driving aswell starts to grind cogs in 3rd any help much appreciated

yup, this is normal.. they stay on constantly (not sure about mk2's though) any idea what kinda bulbs these use? Many thanks will let you know the part numbers and cost for bulbs

Hi my sharan GL 96 (N) rev counter and petrol ilumanation lights have given up the ghost my Temp and mph are still lighting up but nothing on the other two are these two separate bulbs or just the one ? and how easy is it to replace ? Plus ive only justed noticed this without the lights on my instrument lights are illuminated is this normal only just relised this as it was a bit dark and i switched my ignition on and my temp and mph section lit up

Well ive fitted it and alls fine :) I haven't tried the other wires yet i'm just happy it works unlocking/locking,i will attempt to add the other 3 wires when i can find out for defo where they go(maybe some one out there knows for sure will post wiring diagram later ) lol would be cool to have global closing but for now i'm happy many thanks to everyone thats contributed to this thread Knowledge is useless unless it

right guys it seems i have a few more wires on my main unit It says in leaflet Red/black = To positive trigger Pink = To negative trigger Green = To negative power window output I assume these extra wires are for global closing but what wires at my CLM go to these ?

Hi guys thought id take the plunge and get one of these KE60W received it today so will give it ago at the weekend :14: Just a quick question ive read other posts where ppl have fitted this to the fuse box is this easier or should i go for the passenger seat ? its just is there enough room for the remote control box under the seat and does it not affect the signal and range being hid under the seat ? plus are the wires the same for me being a sharan GL 96 (N) eg: Red/white=Batt + Brown=Earth Grey=Unlock Green=Lock So this unit should give me global close do i have to join any other wires for this or just the lock/unlock ? well ive just borrowed my brothers switches from his 97 galaxy and they all work :25: so i will need to go and buy 4 new switches from vw/fraud tomorrow,more than likely they will be expensive as its only a switch relay just cost me

Right ive tapped into middle brown and earthed it to a earthing point and nothing happens ! so i tapped into the other wires and earthed them lights and warning lights work,so it looks like the middle brown/earth is ok as ive tapped a wire from the brown/black to this wire and my lights come on so it is earthing.... So its looking more and more like all my door switches are gone :blink: tbh this is very strange maybe 1 or 2 but all 4 switches gone :P

Right checked this morning i bridged the wires to earth on the door switch brown/black to earth interior lights come on brown/blue to earth door ajar light on dash comes on and buzzer works when lights left on tried the same on rear door works the same now is this good news as it seems my switches are at fault or is there a bigger problem

Thanks for all your help btw This is a bit strange tbh door warning open lights on the dash only work for boot and not doors No interior lights or lights on buzzer But boot interior lights work ok and if i turn each interior light on manually they all work

Clock works fine yes yes i have footwell and door entry lights but they only come on when key is removed or when i open doors with key not when i open boot or any other door without use of key yes to add to this if i open the boot the boot interior lights work in the boot but interior lights and footwell lights in the rear and front dont work

As far as i can tell the wires are not broken ive checked each one at the switch and they seem fine,i will check tomorrow about bridging the wires together to see if the interior lights come on Just seems strange that my door warning lights dont come on on the dash but the boot one does' so either all my door switches are broken or a fuse or relays gone

Hello me again lol Ive just fitted a new relay still no joy :o no lights on buzzer and no interior lights when i open doors ive checked wiring again and fuses they are all ok ! Ive noticed that when i open my boot the icon telling me my boots open on my cluster/instrument panel is lit in red,if i open any other doors rear or front there's no icon saying these doors are open So is it possible all my door switches are knackerd or is there another fuse or relay that i'm missing ;) I feel i'm being right pain on these forums but any help would be really appreciated :wub:

Right update when i unlock my doors all lights come on,but if i leave the car unlocked and open my doors (all doors) no interior lights come on ! so i checked door switches and wiring to doors (no broken wires) all are ok accept the rear nearside door the switch is broken! (would this stop it working) ive also tried swapping them to the drivers door still not working ! and the lights buzzer still dont work any other ideas ?

Sorry theres a couple more questions i couldnt edit my previous post :wub: Some times when i first open my car the boot opens,i get in drive about then i go to open the boot hey presto its locked !! Plus can i add a keyfob to this sharan as i haven't got one or does it need a sensor ?

Hi everyone i have a VW Sharan GL 96 and ever since ive had it ive had problems with 1.No lights on buzzer 2.Interior lights work when i take keys out of ignition but if i open car doors they don't work I'm not sure what fuses to look at or relays so if anyone could help i would be extremely grateful as ive left my lights on 3 times now lol and when i get up in the morning its quite dark and i cant see a thing inside unless i turn on the interior light !
