Thanks for the swift action mum

Unfortunately he never got back to me

I've just realised that this rather expensive new vehicle has something that our cheapo Punto came with. A Spare Bulb Kit. Does anyone know of a reasonably cheap kit, preferably in a high street shop/garage/suprmarket rather than mail order (Bulbs being thrust through a letter box and hitting the floor doesn't sound like a good option)

I can only refer to all models but the latest - the fold forward like the MKI & II Galaxys. There may well be a later model Sharan which I've not seen yet but late last year the seating hadn't changed on the Sharan but the Galaxy now has seats that fold fairly flat to the floor

Thanks for the clarification

Is fuel taxed by % ? If so, and say that % is 100% (I haven't a clue what % so could anneone confirm the correct figure? All maths below based on 100%) for each 2p that the suppliers add per litre the taxman gains 2p The taxes were calculated prior to the huge price increases so the taxman doesn't need the extra 2p If they change the tax to so many p per litre then the increases would halve. Do you reckon we could get the taxman 2p off?

I thought that too so had them check it out and yes it it functioning correctly - It's only the damping it adjusts and it makes very little difference unless you hit a speed bump and you can tell it's working as you hit the other side - Well that's what they told me so I hope they haven't screwed my suspension altogether now.

Fair comment but I think you can only select options on new cars and you can only order an MKIII so yes I'm referring to an MKIII Wibble - the proud owner of an MKI and an MKIII (Is that better? :P )

Retractable Parcel Shelf - Tonneau Cover
wibble replied to FamilyWagon's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
Or buy a couple of metres of black cloth and a some wooden sticks. I've always had a problem with what to do when all seats are out/folded and I want luggage in the middle seating area hidden. Now got an MKIII and bought the above. I already have the window blind cover. It helps that the rear windows are black but you can still see in Folded one edge (yes edge - the space is wider than the width of standard cloth) around the wood (it's about 1.5" by 0.5" by 4'6"). That end sits on top of the blind held in place by the ridge. Folded the other edge of the cloth over and got my wife to stitch it. Threaded another piece of wood through. Stitched a couple of lengths of ribbon and tied these to the front headrests. I made a mistake and should have ensured the cloth also reached from headrest to floor so people peerin through the windscreen just see black between the seats rather than the light grey of the boxes I was carrying. Soon solved though. My -
Revs Stay Up Until You Come To A Complete Stop

I used to hook my foot under the accelerator and pull it up. It worked but I shouldn't have had to do it -
If anyone is thinking about getting the optional variable suspension (as apart from the self levelling which I know nothing about) DON'T!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently there is a difference between smooth, normal and sport but for the life of me I can't tell a difference & neither can my other half. What a waste of money that was!!

I have the DVD case and don't remember (could be my memory) an upgrade voucher but I believe I already have the latest DVD. Can you post a copy of the instructions on here as those were definitely not in the DVD case?
-
I have te manual parking brake as both my wife and I were tiwtchy about the auto brake failing. I do however seem to have all the bits operational apart from the button. I have "hill start assist" (which comes with one of the options) which puts the brake on if you are on a slight incline. I'll see if I can find your question as I may still have an answer.

So why couldn't the Ford dealer offer me this after they had chased Ford UK head office to get me the satnav manual I'm still wondering how to reload the satnav DVD myself rather than payng a garage to do it. I'd also like to add my own POI files as they don't give an option for this and, for me, their choice of POIs is very limited.
-
Aw come on folks, surely someone apart from Melo and I have this satnav & could perhaps shed some light on it?
-
It only works down to 19MPH on my automatic It does recognise stationary traffic on mine and drops my speed to 20 before dropping out of cruise & releasing the brakes but only if I'm doing less than 30 in the first place. I wouldn't rely on it though!!!! It definitely works better if you have a car slowing down in front of you & drops you from 70 to 20 quite effectively. But why does it take so long to pick up speed ? Sometimes it picks up really quickly and surprises me.

Going to get a huge insurance premium!
-
Well I eventually got mine on Thursday. This is how to change the satnav DVD - It's a dealer operation only! Do they really think we want to pay dealer to operate the eject sequence, remove old DVD, insert new DVD. I also get the impression that the manual is missing chunks. I'll need to read it in detail. So come on someone, how do you eject the satnav dvd?
-
Personally I wouldn't touch it. If you get it wrong it will set the airbag off. The spring is apparently behind the steering wheel airbag.

I wouldn't consider a zafira due to the reduction in space. I met up with a group of 6 people after a rather long journey and believe 7 in mine would have been far more comfortable. With 6 people I would have removed (or folded in the MKIII) a seat and regained loads of luggage space. Unfortunately there were 8 of us on that trip so I ended up with a mini bus - 200+ miles - never again. I've even had 6 people and an electric wheel chair in the galaxy which would have been impossible in the zafira. I've just upgraded from MKI to MKIII and like the ability to flatten the seats rather than remove them. For a people carrier it drives like a car and for luggage has the load space of a decent sized van. I spotted that the new Chrysler voyager has a similar approach to the seats but probably a better system an possibly comparable pricing though I found their web site to be even worse than Ford's for not giving detail. At least Ford have the configurator that almost works. Chrysler seem to think that saying their cars have folding seats is good enough. What about sat nav, entertainment & adaptive cruise control that they don't appear to mention. They probably come as standard for the price where Ford start at a lower price then you add these as options.
-
But do they have anything for the Ford Galaxy anyway?
-
You think pushchairs are cheap?! With a little help from my brother in law I found it will fit on the window ledges just behind the third row but it is a real pain & much harder that the MKI I had hoped they would have added a forward section too to cover the middle section when you have all seats down. All it requires is a second roller blind with hooks on the back of the front seats. I suppose I'll have to make something.
-
Thanks Peter, Yes it would have helped if I hadn't already got the car. It would appear there are very few of us with the adaptive version which is a shame because it is brilliant! It works at 20MPH and above It brakes to 20MPH then releases the brakes. I doubt it would re-apply them as it drops out of ACC (says so on the screen) It appears to brake downhill but the manual says something about it increasing speed downhill and if it does you should drop a gear. I have an automatic and have not had any problems with it accelerating more than a couple of miles above the set speed before it slows down again. I too wonder if it shows brake lights but as it actually brakes I would be more concerned if it didn't. With the gap distance set high it is much gentler on adjusting your speed as you approach the 50 in the fast lane brigade but I agree with you about people cutting in. A lot depends on the area you are driving in.
