  1. Clim-Air do a good range of wind deflectors - http://subscriber.scoot.co.uk/climair/ Personally I'd change my diet instead.
  2. Thanks to both of you for the advice - I'll contact Car Audio Direct. After registering my problem with C.A.D.'s approved repairer at 10pm last night, they arranged for a courier to collect the unit from my workplace today - it was collect by a very helpful CityLink Courier - all at no cost to me - at this rate they'll have it back before I next need to use it - Now that's service - shame they don't service cars!!
  3. I was well chuffed :D when I accidentally turned the switch on my Alhambra and the wing mirrors folded in - Very useful when I have to fold them everytime to get through the garage doors! VW wanted an extra
  4. I've just had to replace my Kenwood KDC-M4524G with the originally supplied Scala unit :( (which I removed on the dealers forecourt on picking up the car) In comparison to the Kenwood it sounds pretty average! The radio coverage is much much better, with the Scala unit picking up about 5 times as many stations :o - could this be something to do with the "window aerial" and the Scala being designed to use it? :o My Kenwood is going back for a warranty repair - an intermittent problem I've had from new :o - it goes silent for about a second intermittently on some occasions - usually it works perfectly. I bought it from Car Audio Direct who were cheap :) and delivered within 48hrs :) :) . Now that it's gone wrong :( , they've even arranged for a courier to pick it up from my work tomorrow at no charge to me - excellent service!!! :) :) :)
  5. I was told this was the problem on my wif'es 10 year old Gold - apparently 3 doors are worse than 5 doors for this "feature" However, my Alhambra suffered from new.
  6. Seat Kid, I've seen the TIS mentioned elsewhere - looks pretty good from the extract you've shown. As it's a MK 2 one I guess that covers the facelifted cars ie. my Alhambra. Can you please tell me where you can get the TIS. Thanks, Gerald
  7. I had the same problem lat June - TDi's were like hens teeth and the few used were overpriced. The SX came out about 2 weeks after I picken mine up on the 3rd of July - It had all the bits I wanted (although I would have wanted the 7th seat) without the delicate alloy wheels. In my view (and I appreciate not everyone agrees) the SEAT offers best VFM  if it's your own hard earned cash - did you manage to get a discount or did the dealer hold out? Gerald
  8. Ivor, Thanks for that - I've chucked the extra seats out and I'm getting an extra 3 mph - even with an extra go -faster stripe and alloy tax disc holder - wife and kids arn't impressed though!
  9. I sometimes get a noise from I believe under the rear of the car for about a minute after I've parked the car. At first I thoght it might be a lock, but checked and all doors are closed (or in the case of today not even opened - except the driver's) It sounds like a pump - could it be the fuel pump? It's not related to whether the car is hot or cold - used on a long run or just a rew minutes - Any ideas. I also sometimes get a rgular rubbing noise when I start it some times - it seems to be coming from the front - not related to engine speed, the car moving or air con being switched on. Is this the start of the many features becoming apparent? On the subject of noises, what is the aircraft turbine noise from under the car when idling. As mine is parked in the garage I get this everytime I start up and "shut it down"
  10. If that fails, have a hunt around and look for maunfacutring dates on parts - that will give you a rough idea - for example my radio loom has a date of 22nd May 2003 - a week before the car was made. Interestingly The tray under the radio, which should have had the CD player (as the dealer told me it was a 2004 model), was made in 2001! - two years before the car! The seat belt labels are probably an easy place to look for dates.
  11. Worth knowing that there are 6 seaters out there - I wonder if that applies to the SEAT SX model. If you need a seat (for sitting on as opposed to a SEAT) try e-bay - they've always got them on there - there is a problem with the fabric though. Here's an example - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...1&category=9889
  12. Mine is also the rear n/s - spooky - same problem usually needs two slams.
  13. Doesnt it drop again? I suppose if it does you pull it up again. One of my rear doors seems to have this problem as I have to slam it harder than the others, and it raises when if closes. It's been like this from new and I was going to tell the dealer - by the sound of it I should do it myself. My wife's golf has the same problem - obviously a VW feature - it is 11 years old though. Thanks for the advice
  14. I saw the ultimate on a market stall at the weekend - fake brake discs in bright blue or red. Does anyone have experience of fitting these to a car with original discs as they look much better than the real ones! PS. Can I bring my go-faster stripes back for a refund - they've made no diffrence to the speed of the car!!
  15. Ian, I've never heard of un-reinforced tyres - what are these? Something worth looking out for as some fitters may be tempted to fit them.
  16. I assume the buttons are similar to the ones on my previous Space wagon - two thumb sized buttons either side. One day an idiot decided to reverse three car lengths into the front of my car to get a space in a supermarket car park. Fortunately I was stationary - waiting for the car i the space to come out. By the time I found the horn (after first punching the centre of the steering wheel) , the offending vehicle had parked in my Wagon which was only a few months old - it was Chrismas Eve to top it all!!. The person then drove off and parked on the other side of the carpark, pretending he hadn't noticed. Fortunately I had a witness who saw the whole lot - even better he was a Mitsubishi owner, better still when he gave me his contact details he was a salesman from my dealership. I guess this was something that suffered in the desire to intoduce Airbags as soon as possible.
  17. Formula 1 Racecar Stick-on Petrol Flap Cover - I'm worried that this may affect my insurance - does anyone know? PS. It's a bright chrome one with raised fake boltheads
  18. Try Ebay - Here's a set that were sold last week, and I have seen them in the past - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...&category=43117 I think the chance of fitting "stick on" rails is impossible - imagine them coming unstuck at speed - in addition if they even existed there is a chance that someone would try and use them - I'm afraid your only choice is fit the proper ones, go without or buy a new car. According to another thread, fitting is staightforward, but don't blame me if it all goes horribly wrong - good luck. A friend of mine pointed out another use for the rails - he immediately said the car was fitted with SKIs - I'm not planning to try them out though.
  19. Sorry to go on, but this is the position I found when I bought mine. TDis were scarce - any cars I found were imports and the price when you took everything into account was not that clever. Why don't you try the SEAT Dealers - if it's your money, you'll get much more value for it. At this time of year try a pre-reg as the plate will be out of date next month. If your not a plate snob negotiate a good deal on a 53 plate.
  20. Wow - neon lights - just imagine them under the Alhambra. On a serious note does anyone have any advice on fitting neon lights to my car? Think on the bass units I could get in the back if I get rid of the rear seats. I'm tempted to take the TDi badge off the back and replace it with a "fuel injected turbo nutter ..........." one - must also get an ABS and FM Stereo badge for the back.
  21. I know someone who had film fitted (approx
  22. Does anyone know where I can get one of those stick on fuel flap covers that make it look like a racing car?
  23. Nice one Dave! After spending nearly 20 grand on my Alhambra, my mother in law (don't you just love em) pointed out that it didn't have a footwell in the rear. My daughter immediatly started complaining of poor seating position and backache - some thing she hadn't noticed during the numerous test drives. Of course her 4" heels had nothing to do with any of this discomfort. I told her that "when I was a lad" we didn't have a car and I had to walk everywhere - if she didn't like it she could walk - problem solved! Now my outlaw has gone and bought another car - guess what was the first thing I noticed about her car...............
  24. Anyone looking for parts - try E-bay. There are several people selling loads of VW stuff as "Garage overstocks" I've seen various seats and even roof rails.
  25. Hi - I once saw a "trailer" for a mini which was the rear half of another mini - maybe you could do this with a Galaxy and have either an extra 2 or 5 seats! Good luck - you both need it - I thought I was mad with 4!
