I was under the illusion that you could only have one key matched to your galaxy at any one time - because there was some sort of rolling code.

Our galaxy only came with one key nd I have never tried to get another as a result of this understanding.

Reading some threads on this forumI see reference to people getting the spare key out.

Can you have two keys matched to the car at once?

Cheers

Steve

IIRC...you can reprogram keys yourself..there has been a lot of discussions about it on the forum...it also shows you in ur handbook how to do it and IIRC there is a link in the FAQs about how to do it aswell.

I have 3 keys, one spare and two remote keys.

Well, I'm a little wiser - I think!!!!!

We have got one key - this has a battery in it and two "buttons" on it - one to lock and one to unlock the central locking.

So if I were to get a plain key cut - no batteries etc - would I be able to start the car - or do I need the plastic "key type thing" as well.

Thanks

Steve

PS What does IIRC stand for?

IIRC=if i recall correctly

You would need the plastic one to get another cut..as i broke mine(snapped it in half in the drivers door)..im not sure where you would get a plain one cut to use.

I think if you had a plain one cut from the remote one..it will work..but i amy be wrong on this. Not sure if it would need programming sa it wont have a battery.....rambling now!!

Ok..if i remember right from other threads....you cant just go to any locksmith to have one cut....

I believe you can have a maximum of eight keys which will start and run the car (PATS system) four of which can be remote (GEM - system)

If you have 2 keys which start the car you can program 6 more if they have been cut to actuate the ignition lock - we got one from Fords for

Only tried it once but on mine I got one key working then, when I got the second working the first stopped. So I assumed some sort of rolling code too!

No expert but from what I have read and other ford cars....you need to code them one after the other during the coding sequence.

yes - coding one key removes the others :)

you have to code all the keys at one session for PATS and all remote keys in one session :)
