Guest oilboy Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 I have previously posted about my power loss problems on my 1999 Gal 90. General lack of any power, inability to hold speed on hills in high gears and not wanting to rev above 3000 in any gear. Having read most of the posts here about the subject I tried disconnecting the MAF. This improved the performance on hills noteably, I certainly was able to hold the speed on hills better. However it was not a total improvement. I fitted a new MAF sensor with no improvement at all. Tried a smoke test next which did'nt show up any problems so disconnected the exhaust at the down pipe before the cat. Got a good flow of gases there and also after the cat when reconnected. Road tested with cat disconnected, didnt improve power (got some looks with the noise though) so kind of ruled out a blocked cat or an exhaust related problem. Inlet manifold is clean as well, and I still have a Galaxy with no power!! I have spoken to Ford Technical and they recommend bringing it in to them to run a diagnostics for which they will charge 52 quid +vat I guess I'll have to get this done. I think I've narrowed it down to a turbo related problem, which is starting to put it beyond my capabilities, time to let Ford take over. It will be interesting to see if they try to rip me off by blaming the MAF sensor or cat as I know these are ok. Does anyone know if there is a online workshop manual available? I thought I might give cleaning the EGR valve a go before I hand it over to Fords. Does anyone have a procedure for this? If with photos, that would be a real bonus Quote

Guest seatalhambra Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 i had power loss problems afer a sevice. due to the mechanic not putting the air inlet pipe back correctly Quote
seatkid Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 check vacuum pipes from vacuum pump through to turbo - theres quite a few loss of vacuum = no boost, common problem is they crack and leak.could also be tcs turbo control solenoid which sits in the middle of this piping and regulates boost by controlling vacuum passed to turbo Quote
fairview Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Hi did you manage to solle it as I have a similar problem ? I have previously posted about my power loss problems on my 1999 Gal 90. new nige Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Has anyone changed the hose from the ecu map sensor behind the clocks to the inlet manifold (mk1), this dives through the bulk head behind the break fluid reservoir? Is this easy to thread through and pop out behind the clocks? Do you need to thread string though and draw it or will it find its way? Any advice welcome! Quote

MethoX Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 ive cleaned my egr valve and there was looooads of crap in it , ran 140k miles total, dont know i think it was 1st time it had been cleaned. heres how it looks. i have same problem with power loss time to time, but for now after cleaning it havent been loosing power for week for now, beforce it happened every single day while going to work ,climbing hills with car and loosing power. gonna see how long it will take ,but next weekend gonna try to look at pipes where air flow goes to turbo, was reading posts and i think i have same problem with ecu, wich tells more fuel, but ecu sais no more thanks, and power gone :D well gonna look pipes and inspect them carefuly maybe it works, even if power isnt disapearing anymore.cause i didint blocked egr valve, dont know how and so on :) Quote
