Hi, I've still not got to the bottom of the problem with my galaxy. It's very flat. No boost. Does anyone know what the map sensor should read on a live scan? Any help will be much apriciated

Hi Matt,

Just did a quick look on my Gal using my MaxiScan and I got 99kPa for the MAP,

I also got 9.1 g/s on the MAF.

Both readings change when I rev the engine.

Not sure about this but I thought our cars had a MAF (mass air flow) sensor, and not a MAP sensor, which I think is a different sort of sensor that measures pressure in the intake manifold. Maybe there is a conversion in the engine management system.

I had a very poor performance with mine some time ago (before I had my scanner), unplugged the MAF and no difference at all, fitted new one from VW(cheaper than Ford) and the difference was unbelievable.

Hope this helps.

Matt.

Assuming you have Vagcom/VCDS

VCDS is more suited to these engines you can check MAF sensor, boost control and EGR at the same time by collecting live data while driving the car.

You would need to record measuring blocks 003. 010. 011 you need a good 5 - 10 seconds of 100% throttle (flat out) at 30mph

The car has both MAP sensor located in the boost pipe work and the MAF on the air filter box.

Hi folks. Not had chance to have lap top on it , I swapped the map sensor with my mated Alhambra tonight and mine went the best it's ever gone, his was flat, they both had same numbers. Where is best place to get a new one? Main dealer ? VW or seat .

it won't make any difference to the part you receive if you get it from either of them or ford for that matter. Might be a different price though so if you have access to both give them a call and ask?
