acecardsharp Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 I might be going a bit loopy but i've had the MK3 for about six months now and I am convinced that I haven't seen this before. On the interior light fitting above the dash, there are two what appear to be holes, never thought twice about them and thought they were probably part of ultrasonics.Tonight when I switched on the sidelights I get dim orange lights glowing in these holes- quite bright if you put your hand up there and let them shine on it.They are pretty obvious when you cast a glance in the rear view mirror so I cannot believe I have never seen them before while driving in the dark. Can you chaps enlighten me on what they are? acecardsharp Posted September 2, 2014 Author Report Posted September 2, 2014 Update - looking at a pic in the manual, these do appear to be prt of the alarm system - but no mention of random orange lighting and in any case ultrasonic detectors don't light up, do they. Anyone know about this - thanks. Quote
littlenewt2067 Posted November 2, 2014 Report Posted November 2, 2014 They could be ambient lights like the BMW's have. You don't notice them ordinarily but they give a little light to be able to see around the cabin area Quote
chrispb123456 Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Submarine lighting, they give a soft light over the black dash. Quote
davetech Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 My old BMW 5 series has exactly the same as you describe. It does give a nice warm luxurious glow in the cabin; wish my Gal had them. Quote
davetech Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 OK. Now who feels the fool?! Had my latest Galaxy for 6 years and only now discovered I have got the orange glow. Quote
