homehome16 Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Hi I have a issue with my ac, the gas if full however it seams that the compressor may not be kicking in. Today I disconnected the comporessor and checked the voltage while switching between auto snd econ. The voltage was about 0.3 volts for both auto and econ. Does this sound like an issue with the relay? If so where is if located? Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks Joe Quote
steve329 Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 I'm afraid I can't help with your issue but if you could post if you manage to sort the issue - is the problem intermittant? I seem to have intermittant ac, I'm assuming the pressure is good as when it does work it's really cold, the compressor is a bit noisy but nothing to bad, it's just 50:50 whether it will work at all! Iv not had a chance to get under mine and test for voltage at the compressor Quote
chrispb123456 Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 How do you know it has the correct amount of gas in it? The HVAC system can be diagnosed with VCDS, you may have a wiring issue or faulty high pressure switch. Quote
homehome16 Posted June 29, 2014 Author Report Posted June 29, 2014 I know I have gas as I connected a refill tub with a pressure dial and it displayed in the green area. Can you tell me whats a vcds is? And is there anyway to test the presure switch, also where abouts is that located? Quote
homehome16 Posted June 29, 2014 Author Report Posted June 29, 2014 Also is there any where I can download the wiring diagram to check it out for faults? Quote
philm32 Posted July 27, 2014 Report Posted July 27, 2014 Sounds a bit like my fault, mine has intermittent voltage at the compressor of 2.8 volts every 3to4 seconds checked wiring and that's fine, traced it back to a relay underneath the fuses in the drivers foot well, its in position 4with number 454 stamped on top of it. Didn't find any English web sites with information on it but had to translate a German site which they say it controls the power to the compressor from the climate control unit I'm going to get a new one and try it Quote

VCDS is a Ross tech product which you can use with a compatible cable and the diagnostic socket below the ashtray Quote
SilverBeast Posted July 29, 2014 Report Posted July 29, 2014 If you have a newer model diagnostic socket will be below the Fuse Box near the drivers right knee. Quote
